Just curious as to what time everyones toddler wakes up in the morning?

Ella has always woken up around 5ish but once she had a feed used to go back to sleep until around 7. How lately when she wakes up after 5 she won't go back to sleep.....a lot of time I think she wants to go back to sleep, but just can't (I have the same problem, when I get woken up around this time it takes me ages to fall back to sleep).  I have no idea why she wakes up at this time, as she has the heater going on in her room, so it can't be the cold bothering her...but every morning it happens without fail.  She goes to bed relatively early (6.30), but even if we put her to bed later she still wakes up at the same time.

Does anyone have tips on how to stop this early morning waking? or how to get her to go back to sleep again (if I just ignore her she will happily play in her cot until we come and get her...problem is I can't get back to sleep again).

She still has 2 sleeps a day, so not sure if that is affecting it or not....but she really does need 2 sleeps so I don't really want to drop the 2nd sleep yet (but will if it means I get a bit of extra sleep in the mornig).

That's a hard one, it sounds like just a habit she has gotten into and they are hard to break. I'm not sure what to offer in advice but I'll have a think on it.

If it helps Daniel goes to bed between 6:50-7pm, wakes up around 7, sometimes half an hour either side of that. But he only has 1 day sleep. Yep he's tired by the end of the day but he refuses 2 day sleeps and when he does have 2 he wakes up earlier.

Jakes goes to bed about 7pm (give or take depending on whether hes had 2 naps or 1 and how tired he is) and wakes about 7am. Like Daniel it can be 30 mins either side - usually if its early its cos his nap has leaked or is dirty - and some days it can be almost 8am by the time he wakes (with us making lots of noise to try and wake him so we don't have to go in and wake him!). He never sleeps in on the weekend tho - only on a day he has to go to daycare!

I agree it sounds like it may be a habit ... not really sure what to suggest, but I'd try keeping her up a bit later (7.30ish) and giving it a week to see if that helps, as it may take a few nights for her body to re-set and sleep the same amount of time as she usually does (therefore waking later).

Either that or cutting back her afternoon nap to just 20 mins so she hasn't has so much day sleep .... or trying to hold her out with just one nap and giving that a few days to see if it helps.

When Jake used to wake early (anywhere from 6-7) it took for him to be sick and sleep in one day to break the habit.

yeah it does like it is a habit she has gotten into. Might try cutting down her afternoon slightly (atm she sleeps between 1 1/2-2 hrs in the afternoon and 1- 1 1/2 hrs in the morning) to an hr and see how she goes.

How much day sleep is normal for this age group???

Blake has been doing this!! Total pain in the arse...You go in there and he is rubbing his eyes and yawning and grizzling...SO what we do now is tell him it is nightime and to go back to sleep ...he is not getting up.

He grizzles and whines and the whole house is woken but I refuse to give in that 5 is when he wants to wake up for the day..ESP with new baby in the house who has no idea about what time he is supposed to wake up at either!
