Our PAFT teacher came today, and she thinks that Isla would cope really well with starting to toilet train now. She said to include sitting her onto the loo after I go then washing our hands together, before meals, it into her daily routinue.
It seems early,...Im not ready! Lol! I want to do it at the 'right' time, and to get it right. Anyone got any good tips? Anyone started this early? Manybe its not really early tho?! I dunno! Any coments appreciated! I know nothing about it!

I wouldn't rush it. maybe get a potty, Ethan loves his and sits on it everytime I sit on the toilet, he also puts his wet nappies in it, because that is where wees go...She has to have a concept that she is going, E tells me after he has gone but not before, I think our bubs will be good ages over summer, when they can run around pant free..Doesn't hurt to sit her on the toilet though, that way she will learn that it;s an okay place, lots of kids are really afraid of it...

We've been encouraging Michaela to sit on the toilet before her evening shower for months, just to get her used to the idea, but we're not full on TTing

Maya was 22 months, but she was ready - took off her own nappy and got on the toilet. Took me by surprise coz I wasn't expecting it to happen so soon.

I'm with Natalie tho, I'm gonna wait till next summer to even start TTing the gremlins.

A potty can't hurt tho.

i think that at that age it is more about getting them trained for our benefit than theirs... if she isnt showing any signs that she may be ready, ie knowing when she is wet or dirty, staying dryer longer ... then i would wait till summer. thats a much nicer time of year to do that kind of thing

Yeah that is what I was gonna do, wait til after her birthday (Oct). Think I will put her on the loo after me like twice a day, but not be so full on as PAFT lady suggested. I havent really noticed any signs that she is ready, but they I dont really have a clue what Im looking for either! She is definatly staying dry longer tho, but doesnt show any sign that she is gonna go.

IMO it's far more work to TT someone under 2. They can't usually dress and undress by themselves, get themselves on/off toilet, reach the tap... nah!

Yeah thats tru- Isla cant do any of those things, and has so many layers of clothes on it would be impossible for her to undress herself in a hurry!

charli can get her pants off...but in my opinion, it's better to wait until they are really ready for TTing otherwise you're just making more work for yourself..and who needs that!

we started jack at 2.5yrs but he just wasn't getting it and so we stopped. tried again a couple of months later and it went so much better.

charli has said a couple of times she needs to go poos, i've put her on the loo but nothing has happened. then poo in nappy 10mins later. so she's getting it but she's not quite ready yet i don't feel.

i'd start getting her used to sitting on the toilet and just see what happens from there.

Josh has been sitting on his potty for a few months now, but thats just to get him used to it.

I was TT'ed at that age, but it was a little different I was in Oz where it was warm all the time so it was fine to run around nappyless.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

Bay started TT at 18 months and it didnt take long at all for him to get it! but because he wasnt at the getting un/dressed stage - he would come to me/DH/anyone around! lol and say "toilet pwease" and we would take him ...we did it this early cos he started going into the toilet and taking his nappy off then peeing on the floor in front of the toilet!
