Topic: screaming phase Posted: 05 December 2007 at 3:33pm |
OK I just thought I would ask.... Jaxon has started screaming real loud and ear piercing sometimes for no reason and sometimes when he doesnt get his own way.. Im hoping it is a phase.... How do you react to it to stop encouraging it?? or just ignore him and it will pass...
I just dont want him to be a screamer when he cracks the sh*ts....

lol Rhiannon has just started this, especially when we go outside, i think its just them finding their voices...I do tell Rhiannon off when we are inside for doing it and ask her to use her inside voice...as for being outside...as long as we are running around etc i dont worry about it

it is a phase......a very very long phase. we try to ignore as much as possible and say "thats not how we ask for things" and try and show taine how to ask nicely (difficult for one who is learning to talk). i think if you give in then it really is the pavlovs dog thing - they fiogure "scream=what i want"

Wait for it, he's about to churn out something interesting. Olivia's last load of screaming churned out talking in sentences!

Jake has been sceaming on and off for months and months (and, he already speaks good sentances, counts, etc.. I think he's just a lil sh*t!) He did it all the way around the supermarket today. I try to ignore, but he just gets LOUDER, so I uise a quiet and scary voice and say mummy dosen't like it when you do that, it hurts our ears, plus I warn him if he does it agin, no story at bedtime or whatever. Sometimes that owrks, sometimes not. I think you have to ride this sucker out, sorry!

my 2 and 1/2 year old i have just managed to stop it she would scream all the way around the supermarket and nothing would work i ingored her i would sush her and say inside voices and growl her and the evils i would get from people like cant you shut that girl up and the answer was well no i cant even had a lady say to her thats not cute because she would have a big smile on her face as she screamed. but how i stoped it was and i really hate to addmit it was if you dont scream you can have a lollie in the car on the way home, the first time she screamed so when we got in the car i ate her lollie in frount of her and said she couldnt have one because she was naughty in the shop. so the next week i said the same thing and she didnt scream and havent since but now she is happy with a banana or muslie bar on the way home. shoping so sooooo much better now
