Topic: My story....maybe some questions... Posted: 31 May 2008 at 6:17pm |
I haven't really been down this part of the forum before. I guess I didn't want to in fear of 'jinxing' what I wanted.
But sadly here I am.
I am here after my 3rd m/c in a row. Admittedly the previous 2 have been extremely early....maybe what some would call a chemical pregnancy...but non the less, still a loss to me.
I am (or was) 6w2d today. My hcg levels had been rising but weren't very high. I think deep down I knew this wasn't viable. Yesterday I had a little brown mucous but it got less each visit to the loo. Then today my hcg had gone down.
So now I am waiting to bleed...how long will that take?
I now have to tell my 3 daughters (15, 14, 8), who will all be guttered. My 8 years old has told all her class, and she keeps talking about it at home.
But some coincidence, the girls are all away staying at friends this weekend. I don't know if thats a good thing or not. I really miss them, and the house feels very quiet and lonely right now.
I just want the bleeding to start...sounds horrible...but I want it to end, quickly.
What is the situation for a d&c to take place? Is this if I don't start bleeding? I'm not even cramping. But with hcg going down, hopefully it won't take long.
In fact the level isn't even very high. I am seen some of you mention you had high levels when m/cing. Mine is only at 3839 today.
Sorry for the long story....I have had good support from this site, with a particular member even contacting me offering to phone me for support. This means SO much to me! Thankyou ladies...I hope to be a support for you, as much as you are for me :)

I still have my scan booked in for Tuesday. What should I do about that? A friend who is training to be a mw suggested I keep the appt incase I need a d&c. I only spoke to her via txting as she's away, so didn't get too much info from her.
Will I get cramps any worse than period pains?

I'm sorry to see that your fears were true I've only had an early m/c so I can't answer all your questions about hcg etc. My cramps did get a lot worse than period pains though, and for two weeks (and then my next AF was two weeks of cramping/cleaning out also). From what I've heard, everyone is different in that department tho.

My cramps were worse than period pain but panadol fixed it pretty easily so they weren't that bad really.
With the scan, perhaps call your doc first thing on Tues and ask if they think you should do it or not.
In the mean time have a big block of chocie and lots of hugs from your man!

I am so so sorry (((hugs)))....i unfortuntley have been in the same boat...and with my last 2 miscarriages i started to miscarry naturally about 4-6days after i knew my levels were dropping.
I hope it starts quickly for you, as i totally understand the "just wanting it to be over with"...as for the cramping i suppose i was lucky, as for me all my miscarriages have been just like getting my period with maybe one day of bad cramping and slight longer bleeding.
I would keep the scan date...and i cant remember if you had a midwife, but i would contact her...or on tuesday contact your doctor.
(Oh and just encase you want to www.thelostones.co.nz is a great website, lots of lovely women on there that have been were you are and are really really awesome.)
my thoughts are with you and your family

I'm thinking of you Nefertiti , No one should have to go through what you're experiencing.

Oh dear, I'm so sorry to hear this. I also had a miscarriage around the same stage in pregnancy. Since you're bleeding already and your hcg levels are dropping you might be able to get away without a D&C.
It always seems so unfair when these things happen. Hugs to you.

No I'm not bleeding Robyn. I am still waiting for this to happen.
I am still getting the odd brown mucuous in minute amounts though, which is not just getting frustrating. If it wasnt for the fact that I knew my levels had dropped, I probably wouldn't be so concerned as I know that can happen.
But I do know. Its been an extremely long weekend seeming as I have just been waiting for it to happen.
I had a horrible dream last night that I had the baby in the bathroom. It was little but chubby...almost similar to a doll my daughter has.
I can't wait for it to be over.

Hey there, sorry to hear about what is happening, it hurts alot doesn't it :(
With mine, i found out at 5w6d that things weren't loooking good at a dating scan. got my hcg levels and they were dropping and I had a little brown stuff. I went back for another scan at 7w2d and it hadn't grown.
I went for a D&C becuase after two weeks my body did not realise that it had to let go, even when i went in for the D&C my levels were sitting at less than 2 and i still hadn't started bleeding.
It all depends on your body and to be honest, although going to the hospital was pretty bad, i got it over and done with and did not have to walk round thinking is today the day i let go?
I got cramping after the op but not too bad and just took panadol. Two weeks later and i am fine, still tearful sometimes tho!

Hi, I'm having a D & C for my twins today. I started have brown mucous last Tuesday and that's all I have had along with the odd clot. My babies stopped growing at 6 weeks and when I had my scan at 9 weeks they told my I had my dates wrong. Unfortuantely they were wrong and they must have died soon after. I shoulld be 14 weeks this week so my body never miscarried naturally. I'd tell your doctor or midwife and get them to discuss your options and you should have a scan. it takes a while to organise a D & C so if you miscarry in the meantime then that's good but make sure it's complete otherwise you risk infection.

Oh Nefertiti and Tphiz, big hugs to you and to everyone else here who has experienced this. It is so unfair!
Last week we lost #2 bubs. We didn't get scans with this one (lost #1 last July) so don't know how it was going before it died, but bleeding with both started in wk 11. The docs said my levels were already low when they checked them last week, so bubs had probably died or stopped growing a few weeks back. Had felt less preggy for couple wks by then, so that kind of fits.
But why does it take so long sometimes for your body to get around to the actual MC?
Want to try again soon as poss but is scary too.
