Hi.
DH and I have been trying for 3 years and after the all clear from a lap and dye, we have discovered that DH has antibodies in his sperm. They sort of kill the chances of us doing this naturally and now we are on an IVF waiting list.
I don't really know what this all means, is anyone else in my boat?

Yup, my DH had the same issue after a vas reversal. We did IVF with ICSI in 2006 and now have a beautiful 17 month old Daughter. With the antibodies we were told we had less than 1% chance of conceiving naturally so ICSI (where they take indvididual sperm and inject directly into the egg) was our best chance. The success rates for this treatment are high, we conceived on the first cycle. I know it can be a shock to find out that there is something specifically wrong that prevents you from falling pregnant, but on the positive side, at least you know and can take the appropriate action. My cycle was pretty straight forward, the injections were not bad and the side effects were minimal - although this can be different for every person. Hot flushes were about the worst thing that I suffered from. Keep busy during your cycle and have some nice events planned to take your mind off things. Good luck sugarbaby I am sure you will be successful with your IVF cycle.
Lou

Yes we are also...
My hubby had reversal done and we thought was all clear and good as the result was good.. so hence we decided to start trying and in the mean time i had all the tests to check me out - and all ok with me. We ended up getting referred to FA and to our suprize we found out he had 70% of sperm antibodies - so the only way is IVF ICSI.. We were shocked!! i couldnt stop crying when we found out. So now down the track im on the injections and my 2nd scan on Sunday, EC due next week (eeeek!) scary and exciting at the same time...
We are not alone here... i think their are a few girls in the same situation with hubbys antibodies...
How long you got to wait on the IVF waiting list??

Hi Sugar baby, my hubby too has antibodies after a vas reversal. We found on the 21 Jan 09. He has 100% antibodies and our only hope of conceiving is through ICIS. I have just started the pill and injections likely to start in 3 weeks. Great to hear success stories like lulu, thanks much appreciated!
