We were really lucky with Maya when we moved her into a bed, but the best advice I can give is to be consistently firm. We recently went thru a patch where she would wake up in the night demanding milk and in the interests of getting some sleep I would give it to her. Then I realised how ridiculous I was being, and stopped cold turkey. There were 3 or 4 nights of waking up and demanding, and even screaming, but when it didn't produce the desired effect she eventually gave up and got on with it.
Can you close his bedroom door? Thats something else that worked wonders with Maya - she knows that having it open is a privelege and if she comes out after bed time it gets closed.

I do the door thing with Arna, probably approached it the wrong way (when she was in bed it was shut) mainly cause she is so active she runs around everywhere and the kitten was going in there.
She sleeps fine now and I just look in her window every now and again.
Be consistant!!

It takes 3 - 4 nights to make a habit. Be consistent, and remember: the better he sleeps at night, the better you can (as much as a preggy woman can, anyway!) and the happier he will be during the day.
With Kiya, I would not talk to her beyond: "It's sleep time now, Kiya. Tell me in the morning." and tuck her back down... again and again and again.

we always used a safety sleep with paris - and moved her into a big bed before she was 1 so that probably helped, but we would just go back, and reassure her. for a while, once we stopped using the safety sleep (which was mainly to stop her falling out of bed!!) she would climb out and bvring all her toys out in to the hallway and watch us, we would ignore her, and she would get annoyed, or we would take her back, time after time, putting her back telling her we love her, it's time for sleep, and goodnight.... after a week or so of being put back 10 or more times a night, she gave up and stayed in bed.
but when i was preggy - in the middle of the night - half the time she ended up in our bad if she woke cos i didn't want to get up a million times a night. - bad habit i know - but one that hasn't actually carried on thank goodness, she got over that phase.

Thanks for your reponse. I have tryed closing the door and he just opens it and runs out or if I hold the door closed he screams and makes himself sick. I will hold the door closed but think what if he is scared of the dark and I might be causing another problem by closing it too? He has a small nightlight that stays on and I tryed the safety sleep as he used to use it fine now he rips it of in a fit and now thats out the window too! I tryed sitting by his bed and not looking at him and no talking when he starts to talk or ask for dad- go get dad he says. It took 40 mintues but Im not sure if thats such a good way to do it as I dont wanna be in there the rest of my life just waiting for him to fall asleep? This phase sucks as he is a great wee boy and this just makes the end of a day a nightmare....dread bedtimes
