Have you tried putting her on the toilet proper (with a seat insert)?

Other than that, maybe she isn't ready.

That's a tricky one. I would try to put her on the toilet too and take her to buy some special big girl knickers.
Do you let her come into the toilet with you? Sometimes that can spark an interest. My son loves to flush the toilet and copy Mummy and Daddy.

Maybe just leave it for a bit?? My DD ( she will be 3 in March) has just decided that she wants to use the toilet and it has been so easy as we left it up to her.
We talked about it in general conversation but just let her lead the way. We have had very few accidents as it just seems to have clicked in her brain. She is not a child that can be coerced into anything she has to do it in her own time. She isn't really interested in sticker charts or anything like that. She only likes to be praised if she truely believes she has done something worthy of praise.

As I don't know your daughters personality it's hard to know what the right thing to do is but if you are happy to wait a bit longer I would just leave it a bit longer and see how you get on

Good luck it's hard to know what to do sometimes

thanks lottieandharry, i think i will just leave her to it its relieving to know that your daughter is turning 3 in march and has just decided on her own mine will be 3 in may and with another on the way. i was anxious to get her potty trained as soon as possible as i believed her to be falling behind but after your comment i think perhaps il just leave her be as she has a very stubborn side to her

Hey Addismum,

You never know once the pressure ( not saying you were but you know the saying!!) goes off you may be surprised with her and she may decide that she does want to do it! When your 2nd bub due? My second is 1 now and I am so glad I didn't launch into it with DD when he was little as he was a bit of a nightmare baby and it would have been awful trying to TT DD at the same time.

Also the average age for TT is 3, someone correct me if I am wrong.

I think you have made the right decision, there is a lot of pressure at times to get them TT but I think it is easier if you let them get it themselves! In saying that I have only TT one kid so it may be different for others but that's my theory and I am sticking to it!!

Hope you are surviving the heat wherever you are!! Being pregnant in the heat isn't much fun!

I'd say she isn't ready! Nappies are not all bad, give yourself a break and try again in a few months.

My DD is nearly 3 and is still not fully TT, but were getting there! The worst thing to do is stress about it as kids pick up on it so easily!

I'd leave her for another few months as well. Having two in nappies is not all bad, you often change them at the same time and that way it really doesn't take much longer.

My DS was 3 in November and still not TT at all!! Driving me mad, but it just doesn't seem to be clicking. I use stickers for rewards when he sits on the toilet, but he has still never actually gone in the toilet. I'm a bit stuck as to what to do to be honest. He wants to wear undies and not nappies, but he just wets every time, and wont sit on the toilet to wee. Our biggest problem is he isn't talking properly, so he can't tell us either. *sigh* I guess I'll just keep trying.....
