i was reading the post about the Auckland FA seminar

is it true that if u get pregnant after ivf u dont get another publicly funded round?

that would suck
oh well i will check down here in Dunedin

i will be happy if one ivf works tho anyway
just wondered

Yes, it's true Emile. That's exactly what they told us at the seminar.

Even if you have a live baby from a previous private treatment, you are not eligible for publicly funded IVF until you have been TTC more than 3 years!

But, they told us that they will keep eggs frozen from your first cycle (either a public or private funded cycle), and those eggs are yours. A frozen egg cycle is nowhere near the cost of a fresh cycle, around $900, which is much more affordable than a fresh cycle, that's for sure!

We were eligible for public IVF but I didn't want to wait on the waiting list for a year, so we went private. We had a positive result from private IVF, but I am still eligible for my public funded IVF when I get to the top of the list at the end of the year. (of course my baby will only be a few months old, so we won't be doing it then!) If I then get a live baby from my first public IVF, I can't do a second public IVF. But I am still entitled to my first public IVF even though we were successful with private IVF... Does that make sense?
