Hi all

Just had a text from someone at work advising me that one of the people we work with has whooping cough and that they thought I should know since I'm 21 weeks pregnant.

I'm immunised but do you know if its dangerous for unborn baby?

Thanks in advance

Helen

How long since you were immunised? I was immunised as a child and apparently people need to have boosters to maintain that immunity.

Not sure about the dangers to an unborn baby - I think the concern is more for newborns and those under about 6 months.

Here in Lakes/BOP area the recommendation is that those who are going to be around newborns (grandparents, dads etc) have a booster.

I saw a flyer at my midwives saying our area could get free booster shots for pregnant women between 33 and 36 weeks. Maybe ask your MW if it's ok to have your shot earlier?
