Hi there,
my first time here looking for your help. First time pregnant.

Could you please let me know your experiences with Dr Sangalli, Dr Schenk or both?
Have to decide for an LMC and am unsure to choose before meeting them in person.
Any advise is appreciated!
Thank you very much in advance!

I am with Val Schenk at the moment and she is lovely. I have also heard good things about Michel Sangalli, who covers for her when she's away etc although I haven't met him myself. I'm 37 weeks so can't comment on the actual birth/post-natal though. But so far am extremely happy with her, and her midwives are fab too.

I had Sangalli for DS - he was great. Very professional etc. can take a while to warm up but I think that's par for the course when things can go wrong in the first few weeks etc. He is Swiss and has a Swiss sense of humour - my DH would often make jokes which Sangalli just looked at him like 'what?'. Was pretty funny.

Sangalli delivered our ds when things got complicated....very business like but very good. My midwife told me later we wouldn't have wanted anyone else in that situation.

Hi!

I am almost 6 weeks pregnant and got an appointment with Dr. Sangalli for Wellington Hospital and with Dr. Sood for Boulcott Hospital (Lower Hutt). I will have my 10 week appointment with both and also look at both Hospitals while I'm there. After both appointments I will make a decision and then call off the other.

Bye!

Hmm, I have been thinking about doing that too. But how would that work financially? They all have a package price of roundabout $4000. Anyone has done this? Switched LMCs I mean.
Star1: from what I have heard, a private hospital is not so good if there is an emergency with either you or the child.

Just re the package price - you don't pay it all upfront. You pay a deposit of about $200 (from memory) and the rest in instalments. So assuming you paid the deposit before the first appointment you would lose that if you cancelled afterwards.

I'm just wondering what they would charge for just one consultation...

pbear/star1: in Wellington/Hutt the private specialists only do deliveries in the public hospitals. Dr Sangalli does deliveries at Wellington Hospital and even though Dr Sood sees her patients at Boulcott for antenatal checks, they are booked to deliver at Hutt Hospital.
