Get your midwife to refer to the hospital physio, bonus is it's free I just had my second appointment today and the lady was really good, lots of ideas. I got a smiley belt last time for free, only if I don't return it I get charged. It's helped heaps.

She did my pressure points in my hip today & i feel so much better, I wish I'd gone when I was at your stage.

I agree about getting referred to the hospital physio. I also got a smiley belt (though I rarely use it) and a couple of flexi-grip tube things that you wear over your tummy which really helped. Though I had back pain rather than sciatica.

I've found using a Chiropractor a god send for my pregnancy back pain, but unfortunately you do have to pay. If you can get a referral to a physio and its free, I'd say check that out first!

m/w recomended a osteo as u can usually get away with not ending up with smiley belt/crutches or stick etc, am booked in tomorro with a osteo and see what they are like if i dont like them i will change as they r way more expensive i am paying $35 and thats just a acc surcharge

I would recommend an Osteo over anyone else having worked alongside them before and have also been treated for Sciatic pain during pregnancy before with great success.

Try and see a physio. Benefits are that it's free if you see the hospital one and there is more to treatment than manipulation (which really isn't a long-term answer). Plus the physio that you see is specifically trained in women's health/maternity care so takes into consideration more than just your back pain.

For me the physio was a waste of time, I went twice, got the band, got the exercises and it didn't help if anything made my spd/sciatica worse. I paid for 2 sessions at the osteo, one that specialises in pregnancy and after the manipulation was heaps better got me through 6-8 weeks of alot less pain (not pain free just minimal pain). It's flared up again now, but she said it would as I got heavier, I could go back but have decided to just push through the last couple of weeks...

Physio isn't for everyone. Also depends on who you see. It does try to focus on longer-term solutions rather than a manipulation that can 'fix' things at the time, but may not fix things indefinitely. I work with some fantastic physios who do more than just provide belts and exercises.
