Topic: Baking soda test Posted: 29 January 2012 at 7:11pm |
To go along with the cabbage test
Anyone done it & it's right? Mine lightly fizzed & the cabbage test says girl. Wondering how much fizz you'd need to say boy?
I have no idea what I'm having nor do I have any inkling

LR - pee in a cup and then mix a tsp of baking soda in it. If it fizzes then it's a boy, if nothing happens it's a girl. Don't know how accurate it is but it's fun to try

I did both earlier in my pregnancy.
The cabbage test said boy the first day, then I repeated it the next day and said girl
The baking soda test said girl.
I'm having a boy :)
Lol... pretty sure it depends on what you've been eating/how acidic your pee is.

Hmm, I have heard of someone else who did it when she wasn't pregnant and it fizzed heaps. Perhaps it would work better as a pregnancy test

I did both this and the cabbage test and they both said girl, which according to my multiple scans is correct. Will confirm in a few weeks though
Congrats LR!! So excited to see your fabulous ticker!

mine didnt have a hint of fizzing, was rather disapointing really; not coz I wouldnt absolutely love a girl, but more coz of the lack of reaction of the test!!!
Even tried it a few times with lots of baking soda...!!

Yeah I agree, that everyones urine must just be different pH's regardless of boy/girl. Mostly coz I cant see that boy/girl would produce different hormones that would alter the pH of your urine....
