Has anyone done, or know of anyone, who has used intralipid treatment (via intravenous drip) to suppress NKC's (Natural Killer Cells)?

It's apparently 'new' to NZ, but as usual it's been being used in USA and UK since 2008... and I have read lots about it, but want a NZ perspective, esp as it's 'new' to NZ.

My clinic has recommended it for me but being the nosey-parker that I am, I need to know EVERYTHING about it...

Hi MBB - not experience or knowledge myself but I remembered reading an old thread on everybody.co.nz which may be of use?

http://www2.everybody.co.nz/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/2222718/Anyone_treated_for_immune_rela#Post2222718

If the link doesn't work, go to everybody.co.nz then the infertility forum, and its back on page 3..

good luck!

Hi maebeebaby,

We have been suggested this also from Repromed AKL. Im like you as want to know all about it. I have not had any BT for NKC's or anything but i think this intralipid infusion could help with implantation. I have asked if we can also do the colorado protocol (steroids, prednisone etc) as well to cover all basis.

I was told you have this Infusion prior to EC whereby you have a drip in you for approx 2 hours - cost $500 a pop!! and again after a BFP to help pregnancy.

Its supposed to be a soy based natural product.

Which clinic are you with?

Hi girls - I'm going to have this done this time round - our 4th cycle. Ifusion planned for the week of commencing Gonal-F.

I'm also going to have it alongside a pipelle of the uterus (think you had that MaeBeeBaby - can't remember what it's called). Both are apparently supposed to help with implantation. I've also done the colorado protocol, not sure if I'll do this as well or not, FS didn't seem to think there was as much research to support is as the others above - it's just more commonly known.
5 IVF/ICSI Cycles - 10 embryo's, 8 transfers, all BFN's.

Hey mtjt - it's a procedure apparently a bit like a smear but they rupture the uterus lining so that it grows back 'stronger' or with good things in it to help implantation. Can't give too much more specific's as not too sure, but google it and I'm sure you'll find something on it. HTH.

I did the colorado protocol for a year and it was the only year I didn't get a BFP.

I am with ChCh Repromed - costs $250 for Intralipid - gee Auckland is a lot more expensive huh!

Yup the Pipelle is meant to help implantation also, so a double-whammy with the Intralipid. My pipelle was extremely painful so if you can request laughing gas or similar I would recommend it, esp if you are tense like I was! I did not find it to be 'just like a smear' at all! IMO it's no different in effect to a D&C, 'they' say that a D&C cleans you out, just like a Pipelle biopsy.

Well I had the IV, and it was really relaxing - I read my book and listened to my MP3. I felt a little 'sickly' towards the end but nothing much more than an hour or so. One of the nicest procedures I have ever had at a fertility clinic!

Fantastic MBB! Yay, glad to hear it was like that for you after the pipelle. I have the pipelle Wednesday and then the infusion on the 20th. How long did the infusion take??

Hi Tischler - I guess your pipelle has been and gone - hope it wasn't too awful! The infusion takes 3 hours - take a good book and your ipod - it's a nice relaxing time - I had a snooze!
