Hello! Help please - I have a lovely friend who is after a great midwife in Hastings, it's her first & she's a bit bewildered by the whole carryon.

I use Barb Penny - she is very experienced and I know a few people who have used her and were very happy. Her number is 06 8440310.
I also have a couple of friends who use Donna Foote who also comes highly recommended, not sure of her number but I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to find.

I had Paula Hardy (from The Midwives) for my last two and she was great. All the other names mentioned here I have heard are good too.

There's a place on the corner of Charles st and ...that main rd....near pack n save. Anyway, she was the most caring person ever! I only had her for 2 months as I was living up there looking after my ill father. I called numerous MW's to ask for care, but they all declined as I wasn't going to be delivering in Hastings. I was in tears by the time I spoke to her on the phone from the way I was being treaded by others, and she was so thoughtful from the start, listening and finding out how she could help etc (as I was under another DHB's care too). She organised a free scan at 16 weeks to try find out the sex of the baby so I could tell my dad before passing away (saved me $180) and she offered me the use of her doppler over a weekend so my dad could hear the babies heart beat. She definately went the extra mile!
I can't for the life of me think of her name, but I am sure you could look her up
