Omg.. I CANT stand having Lily next to me in our room anymore.. i'm going mental!
the only space we have left is in Thomas's big room.

Have any of you done a room share with a toddler and baby? Thomas will be 3 soon and i'm worried that he's gonna get a real paddy on about it, but we havent got anywhere else for her to go - bar nailing the front door shut and using the hall space (which i'm not keen on at all!) Help!

I guess the major problem with doing that would be them waking each other.

How do they both sleep??

You could always try it for a week and see how it goes

we'd been doing it since Josh was about 3 months, just gave up and moved him into the office! Mainly because he was back to waking several times during the night and I was too paranoid about him waking Cian to resettle him in the room so would end up bringing him into bed with us anyway...

but - for a while it worked okay, i'd just give Josh his day naps in our bed if Cian was having a nap at the same time in the bedroom. and we plan on putting them back in the same room when Josh is sleeping better...

I have a 3 and a half year old and a 7 month old, both boys, and they are in the same room together. It's fine. The only problem is when the baby is grizzling himself off to sleep-he can be a bit noisy-and it bothers the big boy. I'm happy to give the baby a back rub to quieten him while the big boy nods off tho. The big boy has had thorough training to being quiet when he wakes up in the mornings, so as not to wake his brother! That took a while!

I think that although there can be some difficulties with room sharing, the list of pros is bigger than the list of cons. For me anyway. And definitely when they're older.
(I should mention that my big boy is a very heavy sleeper so doesn't hear the baby if he wakes in the night).
Good luck-I hope it works out for you!

Just give it a go.. Have you got a portacot..?? We explained to DD (2.5yrs) that DS (1.5mths) was coming in for a sleep over.. The first night was hilarious and they were laughing and squealing and talking etc for about an hour.. (they went to bed at 7pm)..

I kept DS in the portacot for a week before moving the cot in from his room cause thought if it all turned to custard it wasn't such a hassle.

They've been in the same room for 3 weeks now and some nights they fall asleep at the same time (7pm), other times they muck around laughing etc for about an hour and some nights DD goes to bed first cause she's shattered and then we put DS to bed 1/2 hour later when she's out to it..

DS has been waking several times in the night lately because he is teething badly but DD doesn't wake, I think they're used to each others noises now, even when DD wakes for a drink or from a bad dream DS stirs but never actually wakes up..

Good luck and have fun with it..!
