Topic: implanting frozen embryos Posted: 07 January 2011 at 9:22pm |
I have a question about implating frozen embryos? I am sure way-back-when the clinic explained it but there was a lot going on then. We were blessed with DD, and i am still BF, so no AF. Do i need to wait till AF returns to implant a frozen embryo, or can they just pop one in anytime? DD is only 6months, so not thinking just yet, but thought i should know?
Anyone had any experience wioth this?

hi sugarbaby
congratulations on your DD.
You either have to wait until AF arrives and then they will monitor so that is is transferred around the time of ovulation or they will do a "manufactured cycle" if you do not have regular cycles. Either way, it can't be just anytime, it needs to be around ovulation. All the best.

I was advised that because breastfeeding can afffect ovulation, that I had to have 2 or 3 full cycles (I can't remember whether it was 2 or 3) where Cuinn was weaned before doing a transfer. Otherwise, I just rang the clinic on day one and away we went!
MaeBee - I didn't take any drugs at all. It was just blood tests and a scan. I think it depends on how things are going and what's wrong though - I was lined up for drugs with the next transfer after 3 high quality frozens failed to take.

We are looking at doing a fet in the next couple of months. I have had regular periods and ovulation since my wee boy was born and he is fully breastfed. We are currently testing to see if we can transfer without weaning as I'm not quite ready to give it up and we have 4 months left on our public cycle

hi sugarbaby...I was told that as long as you have regular periods you can transfer anytime. If you dont then you will need a manufactured cycle - same as what they do for IVF.

MaeBeeBaby I think it depends. When we did ours we didn't have to take anything. I just phoned on day 1 of my cycle and they kept an eye on my levels by blood tests and then transferred on the best day.
However I have a friend who is about to go back and use two frozen embryos and is having to take drugs, so I'm not sure why that is, or what the procedure is.
