Hello to everyone,

Just wanted to hear some stories - hopefully good ones! for multiple ivf cyclers and getting their bfps!!

Also keen to know the...

ages of the couples involved?
the reason why ivf ?
what protocols were used?
Number of cycles done
Outcomes?
Any other info relevant...

The info might be helpful for the ones who have been and are currently trying and so far been unsucessful, so some stories of courage and determination which result in good endings would be well worth hearing!!!

Hi

Me now: 41, partner 31. No medical issues.

Trying to conceive since I was 36, got pregnant naturally after 4 months, but had a missed miscarriage (no heartbeat) at 12 week scan. Tried to conceive naturally again, but sought help after another year of trying with no luck, when I was 39. It took me awhile to get over the miscarriage.

First round IVF only 2 embryos. Implanted single one, didn't take. Tried Frozen one, also didn't take. We decided on single transfer, as didn't want to take the higher risk of miscarriage with twins.

In between IVF "fresh" and "frozen" cycles we got pregnant naturally a month after IVF. Again, missed miscarriage at 12 week scan.

Second IVF attempt only got 1 embryo, and this one took and am now 29 weeks.

If this one hadn't of taken, we would have gone down the donor route for eggs, as I didn't produce many eggs in IVF.

We didn't do acupuncture as have read it doesn't increase chances much.

Also we heard that the use of donor eggs increases your chances by A LOT so that's why we had made the decision not to do a third round, but to try and find a donor if this one didn't take and may think about that in the future.

Hope this helps someone! Good luck.

Sarah

Hello,

ages of the couples involved? 33 when started, DS born 6 weeks before 36th b'day. Second due 2 weeks after 38th b'day.
the reason why ivf ? MFI
what protocols were used? Long course x2, short course x1
Number of cycles done 1st round - 1 fresh and frozen transfer, both BFN, 2nd round - 1 fresh transfer, no frosties. Now son 18months.   3rd round - 1 fresh transfer BFP. 3 frosties (blasts).
Outcomes? As per above.
Any other info relevant...   I went to a nutritionist before the 2nd round and lost 6 kgs and ate much better. I also did accu for all transfers. Oh, I also changed jobs between 1st and 2nd round to something way less stressful and more fulfilling. I think this helped too....

I would also be interested in the "average" number of cycles it takes to get BFP - there is so so much different information out there!

I was 28/29 and DH 31 when we did IVF. We had endo and sperm issue which compounded our sub-fertility. Our chance of natural conception was very small - under 5%. They estimated this due to the length of time with no successful pregnancy, and the nature of our sub-fertility.

We did one fresh IVF/ICSI cycle - I think it was a short cycle (no pill) and had a positive result from that single cycle. I've did 3 frozen embryo transfers Aug-Oct, all of them were blasts of excellent quality and there was no reduction of quality from thawing either, but all failed. We then conceived naturally Nov. Go figure!

I was 21 and DH was 27 when we started.

Reason for ICSI IVF: Sperm quality and numbers due to illness when DH was a child.

Told by Dr that even though we were really young it was advised we start immediately if we were to have any success.

Has been 4 1/2 years since we started our journey.

First ICSI IVF - got moderate OHSS and almost cancelled treatment. Produced 30 eggs. 13 fertilised, 1 left at day of transfer - BFN

Second ICSI IVF - again low case of OHSS and produced similar amount of eggs. 2 left at day of transfer and one fresh replaced - BFN supposadly. I showed all signs of being pregnant and on day before bloods had sevre cramping. Tiny spotting and then stopped. Day of bloods BFN was confirmed, but strange things kept happening. Nurses and counsellor thought I was having early miscarriage. Later that week had more sevre cramping and passed a whole lot of blood clots and what looked like a small sac. I was very upset by this and confused to what was happening. Dr said it wasn't a miscarriage, but I had never experienced this before in my life and to this day I know in my heart of hearts I was pregnant. I knew it from the day of transfer to the day I MC.

Follow up appt and Dr said he was pretty sure we would not have a BFP from our frozen embryo and he suggested we look at other alternatives.

March 2009 - 2 months after we were married we got a BFP from our frozen embryo. One very big miracle. Our statistics were something like less than 10% with ICSI IVF

ETA for spelling
