We've escaped CHCH for a few days and are in Kaikoura. I've bought Thomas's favorite toys, books and music he listens to when he goes to bed, but he's absolutely beside himself and wont stay in the bed. Any help on getting him to settle would be greatly appreciated! I even tried bribery with a new toy when we go out tomorrow but it hasnt worked. He's getting me really worked up and i'm already at my wits end with everything thats happened this past weekend!

I'm not sure how old he is but have heard on the radio heaps of kids are suffering from anxiety following the quake and its disrupting their sleep.

Can you sit with him for one night so he knows you are not going anywhere- or you could keep popping back in to tell him its okay?

Hope he comes right soon.

maybe try some rescue remedy for stress. they also do a sleep one 2. depending how old he is you can get a capsule from the health food shop that is for calming kids down and it has hops in it.worth a try if hes old enough to take them

I wish I saw this earlier! We went away for a few days too, to Timaru. DD was still a bit twichy with every loud sound she heard so DH just sat at the end of her bed until she went to sleep.
