I need a TT coach please
Dan is great with using the potty for wees if he has nothing on his lower half. Will stop what he's doing, go wee, come back and tell me very proudly (often with the potty in his hands) and then gets on till next time. He'll sometimes poo in it; otherwise he'll get me a nappy and tell me he wants it on.
This has been happening for a few months. So I decided to take it forward a step. We got some undies (so so cute). But, he just wees in them. I don't know if :
a) he thinks they're like nappies, so he can wee in them (though he seems a bit upset when he's realised he's wee'd), or
b) having his bits covered means he isn't so conscious of needing to go. But that doesn't make that much sense cos it's an internal feeling of needing to go.
It's only been a couple of days and we're going gently, not making a fuss if he wees in the undies. I'm not sure what's the best way to go forward.
Do we keep trying the undies so he gets more used to them?
Do we drop the undies for a bit?
I don't care if he wets them - we have heaps now, but I don't want him getting distressed. And given that he's successful without them on, does he just need a bit of time to get used to them so all the connections line up again in his brain? I'm also not hugely fussed if he doesn't TT yet, but given that he's great without undies, I thought (and Plunket thought) it was probably a good time to give it a go.
Help! I need 0800-Toilet Trainer.
