Hi,

Ds started on thurs with diahorrea - nothing terrible just went a lot that day.

Friday much worse, plus random vomit in the morning, which he has done every morning since.

He is tired and slept a lot yesterday and looks pale, but overall is coping well.

This morning was horrific, heard nothing from him all night, went in, he'd been sick on himself and he had poo all the way up his back to his shoulders - felt so bad.

Is there much I can do for him, he's not very hungry and we are sticking to plain food, toast, rice, potato, banana and stewed apple.

He only has two bottles a day, and I am watering them down a bit, he drinks lots of water so shouldn't be dehydrated but he has clearly lost weight.

When do you go to the Dr, there is no way he can go to daycare tomorrow they want 24 hours and I can't leave him when he isn't right anyway.

It sounds like the rotovirus. We had it twice last year. If it is the vomiting and diahorrea can last up to a week. I would go to the doctor today though as its been 3 days with diahorrea so you have to make sure he is not dehydrating and also that it is just a virus and not something else. The doctor can also prescribe paedolyte for him. It's good that is is drinking, I wouldn't worry too much if he isn't very hungry iti s the fluids that is most important.
I hope he is feeling better soon.

Oh, our chemist has paedolyte iceblocks which my kids just loved a few weeks ago when they were sick.

Hope he is on the mend by now and just thought I would post incase someone else is going thru this. My son got sick last year for 5 days. vomiting and diahorea. He got so dehydrated that he needed potassium shots and a drip as he was having heart palpitations. We were in the states so after insurance this emergency room stint cost over $1000 for us. I could have avoided this(not just the money but the emotional and physical distress for my son) by going to the doctor earlier and kick myself that I let it get that bad. I think I convinced myself that it would get better the next day or the next (24 hr bug mentality). He still had plenty of energy and was going to school that day as he hadn't been sick overnight until he puked his brekkie and complained of his chest. That was when I took him straight to the dr. Anyway after all that what I meant to say is take them earlier rather than later.
