Does anyone have any opinions on local Midwives in New Plymouth? This is my first pregnancy and I'm looking for someone with confidence, experience and an open mind. Any thoughts?

Try the ladies at Partners in Pregnancy...they're pretty much the only midwife practice, besides midwives operating on their own. They have a few midwives all operating together, so you get to know most of them throughout your pregnancy anyway, and if you don't get on with one, you can always swap.. I originally saw Debbie Souness, but only saw her for one appointment as I went under the high risk team at the hospital. I've also heard really good things about Sharon Robinson and Ganesh (who I think operates out of Partners in Pregnancy, or PIP as it's known).

Good luck!

or there is always fully independant which is my preference mosy of my friends who have used pip have not actually had their midwife as it has fallen on their day off etc. I use Liz Trundle whi I totally love she has been mine for all 4.    oh when I mean fully they have backup of they already have a lady or plan to be on holiday.

Thank you so much for your replies Mums - I hope everything went OK for you minik8e being high risk. I have heard that about PIP with a few people too. I really want to get the ball rolling so I know how far along I am. Liz was MW for my sisters neighbor and she also thought she was good so I will call Liz today and see how her schedule is looking. Thank you so much again.

Blessings,
Melana

I have Ganesha thru PIP..Shes good..Also Annett is lovely. I've seen Paula a couple of times too. And my friend had Debbie to birth her baby she was awesome. I know a few people who have had Marilyn..

I have also heard good things about Liz..

Definatly look around and don't forget you can ALWAYS change if you're not happy.

Congrats by the way on your 1st pregnancy! And yay another Naki lady.

I have heard great things about Debbie Souness (at PIP) and also Liz Trundle (although apparently she talks A LOT! - which isn't necessarily a bad thing). My mw works with Dr Brooks now so next baby I have to find someone else :( I do like the idea of having my very own mw though (independent, not PIP). You can call PIP and just have a chat, they book up very quickly. Good luck!

Yep, Liz is really nice and is very experienced.

I've gone thru PIP each time and have not one complaint. Even tho I didn't get to use their MWs for DD's labour, they were so seamless in treatment between them and the hospital/high risk care.

hi there ladies, i am new to New Plymouth have been here for 6 months and i am now 5 weeks pregnant with my second child, i would like a recommendation on a local midwife, unfortunately i would only like to have the one midwife as i dont like being crowded with too many different people as you guys have said. any recommendations would be muchly appreciated :)
