Ok, so Jade has recently started being a toad at feeding time. When there is around 60ml to go, she starts playing with the teat, laughing and chatting, chewing on the teat etc, and it becomes a nightmare getting her to finish her bottle (she is on 220ml). We have never had a problem before!! It's just a new thing. Amber still has her full bottle, no issues.

Is this a phase, or is there likely to be something behind it??? We try not to involve her in any play while she's feeding etc, and if we ignore her totally (not even looking at her) she is a wee bit better, but still plays up.

There is no way she is full after 150-160ml, and we know that...

Leah does the same thing for at least half her feeds each day. She has 4x 200ml bottles plus a BF. Now most of the time she is having between 150180 mls. There is nothing I have been able to do to increase it, I figure she knows when she is full and possibly that it is because she is having more solids now, so less milk needed.

Benjamin does the same thing on and off. Every now and then for whatever reason he just decides he doesn't need much of his bottle and will just drink a small amount. It used to really concern me when it was his last feed of the night and I worried that he'd wake up during the night but it never happened.

I figure that he just goes through days where he's not overly hungry.

Kate, something that DF does when she doesnt drink her bed time bottle (and we know she needs it to sleep through). He stops, plays for 5-10 minutes and then often she is ready for the rest. MAybe try that if you havent. WHe pops in into soem hot water to keep it warn too.

My wee boy only has 150mls in a bottle as he mucks around too much after that. He has 6 bottles in a 24 hour period so not sure what Jade is doing is a 24 hour period.

I found DS1 use to muck around abit at teething time?

Hrmm, might try that Kate!!

They are both teething at the moment, we think...judging by the reddish cheeks, yukky poos and spews we are having anyway!! I never thought that it could be that.

Oh0 I thought I would add that Leah started this about 2-3 weeks ago, and a tooth popped up a week ago. Maybe (for some weird reason) it is connected! will be interesting to see if Jade gets a tooth first.

Caden used to do that as well at around the same age, he was having about 200-240mls and would often only drink 150ish some days whilst fussing likr crazy, he didnt cut his first tooth until 7 months, but i think his gums were sore.

Isabella has 240mls and downs the lot lol, she is a guts! she also has breastfeeds through out the day. She is cutting both her bottom teeth, they have been coming up since jan 1st! I have been able to feel them since then.
She does however, chew the teat and play around with it, so I just sit her up, burp her and try again.
