OK this is disgusting, it's happening all the time! Basically he doesn't always do all his poos on the potty (he's TTing and doing really well with wees) and then when he wears a nappy at night the first thing he does is need to poo, so he takes the nappy off, poos on the floor (often doesn't make it to the toilet as he's half asleep even though I have the potty in his room) then proceeds to smudge it round, run his cars through it (they have now been taken out of his room) and paints with it.

Grandma suggested not putting a nappy on him and he'll soon learn (apparently it was very common practice in her day). So we've done that for a day sleep so far, and he didn't wet or poo. I'm quite chicken to do it at night though as I don't want to have to deal with a soaked bed all the time.

Surely others have been through this... any tips/suggestions or will he grow out of it? We're cleaning 2-3 times a day here atm

Havent come across this one myself Emz, the only thing I would suggest is maybe making it a bit harder to get his nappy off?  What kind of night nappy does he wear?  *hugs*, must be soooo frustrating!!

Mum to Mr 10, Mr 6 and Mr 4

night dryness is not the same as day training, their body has to be ready in a different way so unless he is already dry at night i wouldnt either. i think that my3sons is right and you will just have to make it too hard for him to get his nappy off.. of try to get up before him and get him on the potty.

oh but if he does that during the day too then maybe there needs to be a consequence for that ... what have you been doing to teach him it is not acceptable?

We just tell him that he needs to go on the potty and he gets a time out if he's played with it (because it's gross!). TBH I don't really know what to do about it.

Oh and he was dry all night last night and is for most of his naps, but have had more 'painting' today (when DH was looking after them and he's not as attentive with signs!). Sigh, guess we'll just get a rug doctor in a couple of months

What sort of nappy is he in for day sleeps? If it is sposies try putting electrical tape over the opening tabs and across the front - that will slow him down. For a MCN, maybe put it on back to front.

Fingers crossed that he stops soon
