I'm currently 10wks preg and still breastfeeding my 13mth old son. I do plan to wean him in the next few months - I imagine I'll be really tired by then!

have any other mums done this and how do you manage with your energy levels trying to feed 2 babies?? I'm so tired!!

Good for you! There are actually a few of us currently pregnant and breastfeeding - we've talked about it a bit recently in the 'extended breastfeeding' sticky thread in the toddler time section. You might be surprised, as your first trimester comes to an end you might find you have a bit more energy (when I was around 10 weeks I *had* to have a nana nap every afternoon, but now - somewhere between 14 and 17 weeks - I don't usually have to have one).

I'm not 100% decided whether I'm going to wean JJ or not - actually I'm half hoping he'll self wean at around 5 months pregnant when the milk changes, but I also quite like the idea of tandem feeding because I wanted to feed JJ until he was 2 or thereabouts (in line with the WHO guidelines). Plus I'm a big fan of child led weaning as long as the breastfeeding relationship continues to be beneficial for both of us.

There's lots of good info on feeding during pregnancy and tandem feeding on this website: nursingtwo.com

ETA - and welcome to OHbaby!

Oh and I should add in the last couple of weeks I have noticed my supply has dropped considerably, I would estimate he's getting about a quarter of what he used to be from me Doesn't stop him from sucking away though, he's very patient/stubborn! Kinda suggests he won't self wean huh

I breastfeed while pregnant. Henry self weaned during the pregnancy. Dont ask me when because my useless brain can't work it out but he was 14months old at the time anyway. I didn't find it any different really. I still had hyperemesis for the first 16weeks (hospitilised 3 times for rehydration) and it was difficult to feed then (but it was difficult to do anything then). A side note: the only time i didnt feel like vomiting was while feeding.
I was really upset when he weaned to be honest as i was looking forward to tandem feeding. But as dh pointed out to me. I had said I would continue to feed him as long as he wanted (and i was still happy obviously) and I had done that as weaning was completely his decision. I am so happy to be breastfeeding again. I really missed it during the two months
Hope it all goes well for you hun. And welcome to ohbaby
