Topic: Does our toddler eat.... Posted: 12 January 2010 at 7:26pm |
salad??
DS eats everything usually but we have tried giving him salad a couple of times and he eats a small bit of it.
I thought maybe it is the texture.
(DS is 22mths by the way - can't fix my ticker!)

Yeah both mine do. It's only recently that Spencer has got into eating it though, and Kyle, well he eats anything.

what part of the salad? My two - 23 months and 3 1/2 years will eat tomato, avocado and cucumber but not lettuce - I think that the grinding required for lettuce is too much effort and some lettuce is very bitter. Amy will also eat capsicum. I just give them the bits that they will eat and we have the full salad.

Ella will eat cherry tomatoes and sometimes cucumber from the salad but not the lettuce (she refuses to eat most green veges but cucumber seems to be OK).

Mainly the lettuce is the issue which I guess must feel strange to them.
Glad to hear, thought I was odd giving him salad lol

Jack eats everything but the lettuce (although will taste it). I think its probably just an odd taste for them.

mine wont eat lettuce...in fact Tom looks sideways at anything green LOL. They both love beetroot, cucumber, tomato and cheese...so thats their "salad". James is giving lettuce a good go though.

Mine will play with the lettuce in his mount but not actually eat it. I just think its too difficult and has a funny texture.
He usually chews on everything else but its hit and miss as to whether or not he swollows. I figure just keep giving it to him and one day the switch will flick and he'll eat it. We don't make special meals for our DS so he usually just fills up on whatever we are having with the salad e.g. meat.

I haven't even tried to give Jake lettuce for ages - his salads are tomatoes, cucumber, cheese and carrot.

Chloe eats all the sexy bits in the salad, but won't touch the lettuce. Sometimes she will try eat it if she sees us eating it... but then she spits it out, pulling faces and saying "yuck" with a look of surprise on her face. Haha

S will only eat peas and bananas Everything else vaguely green or healthy doesn't get past his lips!! Strangely enough, he will eat blueberries and raspberries in a muffin, smoothie or if well disguised
