So i think one of my children finally has it.
I noticed a few spots on Toby this morning and when i had a look at them they looked like little blisters on top of a red spot. some on his neck and back and front and a couple on his arms. At first i thought maybe the new kitten had given him fleas but none of the other kids have them and the blister looked a bit suss.
I havent taken him to the doc yet, will probably go tomorrow to get it confirmed.
For those who have had the pox i was wondering if your other kids had got them at the same time? and if so what time frame from first kid to the last kid getting them. Also some good ways to deal with any side effects i am yet to encounter!

I had the pox and my sister never caught it and we shared a bedroom. So they might not even catch it, as far as I'm aware she has never had it, not even when her own kids got it. Unless she just got such a mild case that my mum didn't think she had it.

It is more than likely all your kidlets will get it. It has a gestation of up to 21 days and unfortunitly it can be 21 days and then the pox on one child appears and then another 21 days and the next gets it.
They are contagious for the full 21 days leading up to the pox appear and until they scab over so get some good DVD's as it a lot of home time coming your way.

My sisters eldest just had it and about 2.5 weeks later her youngest got it, I(still waiting to see if we get it) she said the best thing to help with the itching was a couple of tablespoons of baking soda in the bath and lorapead (sp) liquid which is for allergies. Both helped to stop the itching, and she said smelled much better than pinetarsal(sp) as well.

he doesnt seem to be overly itchy at the moment, but was going to put baking soda in the bath anyway cause they all need to wash their hair!
I was getting worried that the oldest one hant got it cause i've heard it can be worse to get it when they are older...

Yip it does tend to be worse they oldre they get and it gets more difficult to control their scratching too. He will probably get it, if he doesn't I think it would be pretty safe to assume his boy has immunity already. Hope he doesn't getting right as school starts for him as that would be so sad for him.

well we officially have the pox in the house!
first i thought of that today, be a bummer to miss the beginning of school because of it!
i'm not too sure though how much to quarantine the family. we were supposed to be going to whangamata this weekend with the grandparents.

Once they have scabbed over they are fine. I wouldn't worry about the other two passing it on yet, to be honest.
Bummer tho! My two had them about 2 weeks apart, and I didn't find it too bad. Niehter of them scratched, and Charly had a really really bad dose. I used this stuff the chemist reccomended aqueus calamine lotion - th ecalamine alnoe dried them out too much and causes itch, but coupled with the aqueous cream its MAGIC! cost about $5
