Hi, I know that there's lots of info around with suggestions of what to do/what not to do in regard to getting your wee embie/s to stick after an IVF transfer. I just want to see if I can get it all on one forum to make it easier for me to find so I can adhere to it like glue (and the embies too please)!!

I'm getting 2 Day 3 embies transferred tomorrow, so want to make sure I do everything possible to optimise our chance. We are on a very fine thread as these will be the 4th and 5th embies transferred (no prior ones successful).

So far I'm planning on eating fresh pineapple, not having baths or spas or getting too hot, avoiding alcohol caffeine etc.

Anything else

Why the pineapple? I had a blastocyst transfered today so I am in the same boat as you are and will do anything to help my wee embie stick.

I had acupuncture both before and after my transfer as has been scientifically proven to increase the success of IVF, but I couldn't tell you by what percent. It also helped to relax me a bit as I was so much more nervous for the transfer than what I was for the collection.

Not sure about the pineapple, maybe enzymes in it or something! I haven't done the acupuncture but I'm thinking of getting a massage to relax me! Great excuse. I'm also taking a pre-natal multi-vit as there are apparently lots of vitamins and minerals that are supposed to help.

I'm going back to work on Friday, but I've told DH that I'm not doing any hanging out washing, gardening or the like. I'm going to try to be a lady of leisure and keep my feet up as much as poss!

I've also heard that BD'ng and orgasms aren't encouraged - did they tell you that at all? Could make the 2WW even longer as the distraction would help the time go by

Good luck Tischler! I don't really have much else to add except that I would be very cautious with the massage, I have been told that it can encourage miscarriage in pregnancy if the person doesn't know their stuff?????

The only advice FA gave me was to take it easy and not to get hot, even as far as not having a bath and only having warm showers, and if I want to exercise that I am not to do weights and not to break into a sweat if I'm going to do cardio. It feels like there should be more that we could do (or not do) because its taken so long to get this far. I hadn't heard about BDing or the orgasm thing, interesting.

How much and how often should you eat pineapple?

Good luck for tomorrow, and to you too sugarbaby.

I too got told to eat fresh pineapple, not sure exactly why, and to avoid grapefruit juice and limit yourself to only 1 green tea a day, and don't take it around the same time as you take your folic acid.

The Dr told us to BD after transfer, I can't remember exactly why though

And def no heavy lifting and exerting yourself.

I did the accupuncture thing last time too but unfort it either didn't agree with me or was just bad luck, but thats the only time I've had straight out negative BT, go figure!

Anyway good luck to you all, hope the time flies by!

Thanks Moogle for the advice re: massage - I think I'll leave it for a while.

I had 2 transferred today, a 10 cell and a 8 cell, and we have one 6 cell definitely to be frozen with the other 2 as vague possibilities. So now I'm in the 2WW and PUPO (pregnant unless proven otherwise)!!

I have a fresh pineapple sitting ready for dessert! The only thing is that I forgot to ask about BD'ing!! Oh well, we might just take it easy as after the last 2 transfers we BD'd and got BFN's so abstaining is something else we can try!!

Oh also, apparently an old wives tale.... Buy a parsley plant and get someone to give it to you, or get someone to give it to you then plant it in the garden. Apparently its good luck for fertility. DH gave me mine when we got home from transfer Hey, I'll try anything!!

OMG, that is so weird about the parsley thing. I have finally managed to get preg on third cycle IVF (first time we only got one embie which didn't stick, 2nd time no eggs fertilised
But when I think back, while we were in that hideous 2 wk wait for the blood test this time round my sister's partner gave me a parsley plant to take home - which coincidentally is now thriving in my garden!
Def recommend the parsley thing then!

Hey tiscler, I am joining you now on the 2WW ride! We had our little embryo (Skittle) transfered this morning.
How are things going for you???
The nurse sat us down to go through the list of do's and don't's but most didn't apply to me as i am Vegan and don't eat alot of the high risk foods. But i am bummered as i had planned to spend the weekend relaxing in the garden to take my mind off things and apparently i can't do that either!!!
I hope little Skittle sticks, but i also hope i don't go slightly mad! DH has laid down the law on what is and what isn't suitable activity for me :) Men are so funny
Sending good vibes your way

Hi sugarbaby, yay, so glad you've joined us on the 2ww - it's long and slow!!!

Please share what you got told for do's and don't's as I'd love to hear what others have been told.

I think skittle sounds like a great embryo name. Mine are #4 and #5 - not very original

I've really just been trying to lay low, although without thinking I picked up a 7 year old girl today which I regretted as soon as I did it (was just so spontaneous).

I've got DH in the kitchen doing the dishes, lifting the groceries, packing and unpacking them, and hanging out and bringing in the washing. It's such a treat!!

I'm not having any bother though apart from tender boobs with the jolly pessaries, and getting quite hot - so trying to monitor my temp and take panadol to keep it down.

We'll have to keep in touch during these 2 weeks so we don't go starkers!!!! Sticky vibes to you too

What food did they tell you not to eat sugarbaby? I was told not to drink alcohol but no one mentioned anything about food to me.

I have been trying not to do much, I even had a wee nap on the couch today (I never do that).

These last few days have gone sooo slow. I got really worried yesterday as I got a crop of AF pimples, but they have disappeared so FX they were just a one off thing.

Tischler, a friend of mine who got pregnant on IVF said that her main symptom before her BT was that she kept having hot flushes, FX that is what is happening for you

Don't the days just go so slowly! When is your BT gannet? And yours sugarbaby? Mine is the 5th Nov.

I'm hoping a week at work will keep me busy, though I must say this time round I'm a lot more skeptical and I'm not putting any tweaks etc down to anything other than normal life. I've been through too much to get my hopes up high this time.

BUT, I am aiming for a very big fat BFP!! Apparently by now my #4 and #5 should have 'hatched and attached' if they were going to ... wish I could have a sign

Fx'd for us all!!!!!

My blood test is on Friday - 4 sleeps to go. I'm taking the day off work as I don't want to be at work for the phone call. DH is on a day off so we can be at home and celebrate or commiserate together.

I AM over-analysing every little tweak I get, but more because I am worried that they are AF tweaks. I am trying very hard not too, and I wish I was thinking that they are because I'm pregnant.

I'm worried that if I'm not really positive it might effect the outcome. I feel like I am a bit of a head-case at the moment. This IVF 2WW has been so much worse than any of natural 2WW we went through.

I really really really hope that we all get our BFP's!!

Sorry for the downer post, it's easier to talk about it here than IRL.

Wow gannet, friday is sooo close! Go you! I totally understand what you mean about 'not being positive' it's such a catch-22. Grrrr. The last couple of times I cautiously thought I was pg but no it was AF so I don't really know how to be this time. DH is getting a tad frustrated with my mood - didn't realise it was having that much effect.

I too am a headcase, I think it's par for the course with IVF!!!

10 days and counting!!

Man its been 48 hours on the sofa and i am going gaga!!!
My BT is on the 7th of November. If it is Poss, its a Saturday DH and i will both be home and we can celebrate by him going to the Nickleback concert without me :) if it is Neg, then he will go to the concert and i will have to call in my reinforcements!
The foods they told me to avoid were the typical preggie fods, shellfish, may-in-aze, etc...
Also no hottie on my belly for any cramps. and No sex :(
Also, no gardening as toxoplasmoses (sp?) a problem still and we have 3 cats. No baths spas and chlorinated pools.
And i TOTALLY hear you on the pessaries! No one warned me about the -TMI- discharge and i was really worried! and they are a bummer (excuse the pun)
Although i have taken it totally easy, i have to go back to work tomorrow. I am a nanny to four (youngest is a 15kilo 18month old!!!) and a very very big puppy! so i am a bit anxious about how i am ging to take it easy and do my job. Guess we will see how it goes 2mw
#4 and #5 are cool names! My hubby would like them, nice and logical :) I wanted M and M for our embryo, but they are not Vegan and skittles are!
Lots and lots of sticky thoughts for you both!!!!

Hi Gannet, how are you coping? It's nearly Friday! Hope things are stil on track.

Have any of you noticed increased temps? TMI but when inserting pessaries, I've noticed it's really hot, and when it is, I check my temp and it's often up around 37.5. I then take panadol to try to keep it down cos I know it's not good to be too hot 'up there'.

I recall after my last transfers that I initially was quite hot (didn't take temps those times though) but after a while (don't know how long) that stopped. I asked in the 2ww thread, and they said  that the temp generally stays up before pg, so wonder if that's a sign.

Anyway, just wondered if anyone else had noticed that?
