Topic: Accuputure Posted: 25 September 2009 at 1:37pm |
Hi there.
I am trying accupunture for my next pregnancy. I have had two misscarriages and did a bit of reseach on the net about this. Bassically I'm trying it as I want to feel as though I am doing all I can to prevent a 3rd mc. Has anyone else tried this and do you think it helped? So far it has really reduced my stress levels as we are TTC now.
Thanks Pook

Hi Pook,
I am a recent accupuncture convert (to help with my recent natural miscarriage that was taking forever) - my accupuncturist is now getting my system back in balance for the next bub and seems very positive about the possibilities. I too have certainly read up lots about it and I say it certainly seems to do no harm so is definately worth a try!
What area are you in? I know of two acupuncturists (one in auck and one in hamilton) that have reputations for helping with conception and pregnancy...
Good luck! And I look foward to hearing about your 'needle' journey...

Oh MB could you please tell me who you are seeing in Hamilton? I'm thinking about trying it out for my next cycle (if I can convince DH lol)

Post in the Planning Pregnancy section - I remember someone in there saying they'd used acupuncture to address a particular issue that was causing them to miscarry and it seemed to do the trick.

The guy I am seeing is Trevor Pritchard - (the Wellness Clinic) - I find him fantastic: very holistic and at the same time to the point. He has been practicing acupuncture and chinese medicine for 40+ years (I would say he is a dutch kiwi) and is a little alternative but if you're willing to go with it, I think he has a lot to offer - certainly got things moving for me!! He is now working on getting my central 'chi' in balance so can try again at some stage.... unfortunately he can't do much about helping to find a reliable caring father for the new bub though
Edited: His practice is called the Natural Wellness Centre (PM me if you'd like his contact details)
Good luck, Kelly!

I had a missed miscarrage before my pregnancy with Jayden and PCOS I went to acupuncture with a guy in Auckland who speiclises in fertility and womans issues, he was fantastic, within a few months my cycles went from 47-50 days apart to 30 and I fell pregnant and went on to have a healthy baby! all the best
