I feel blessed - and hope some others do too as there is not enough positivity around about our toddlers...

My 29 month old -
*eats veges, fruit and i can even use them to bribe her!!!
*eats her meals and uses big girl cutlery and tablewear (so i forgive fingers on occasion)
*doesnt have a sweet tooth (positive as I get to eat a leftover afghan!!LOL)
*plays pretty nicely with others, shares, and understands the concept
*has few tantrums - and when she does it is truly laughable and she just gets over it!
*sleeps 12-13 hours every night
*holds a conversation with me and people, she is totally adaptable
*is sociable and afraid of very little (bloody big bad wolf story does NOT help nor does going on a bear hunt but otherwise ok!!!)
*goes into time out willingly and usually does it in one take and then apologizes and gets on with the task at hand - even in middle of a restuarant
*and best of all tells me she loves me...

more positive toddlers please....

* mostly happy
* loves her brothers (and rest of her fam, but mostly the boys)
* dosen't mind if I leave her
* sleeps well at night
* communicates her feelings and thoughts well
* smells yummy and lets me play with her hair
* is a girly girl and I love that

Gives me the biggest bear hugs

Has just learnt to blow kisses

Tries to count - but everything is "treeeee" at the moment!

Is starting to learn colours - if you ask him what colour something is - its usually "red" in his opinion!!

Was super gentle with our old pussy cat and gave her lots of kisses (he is missing her a lot - we put her down on the weekend)

He has long conversations in jibberish to his Nana on the phone

He helps set the table, but getting the placemats out of the drawer and puts them on the table!! (then climbs into the drawer to sit!!!)

Eats lots of fruit and veges

He is brave, and has no fear of heights / falling !! (Yikes!)

He really loves (and hero worships) his older cousin who is 4!

He makes horsey noises when he rides his rockign horse - its adorable!

He is lovely at the moment - even with the tantrums and meltdowns!

Well of course I have to add Samantha to this one.

*Is super duper confident
*Speech is improving in leaps and bounds
*Sleeps 14 hours a night
*Always says please
*Usually says Thank you
*Is great at sharing (even things she loves)
*Is beautiful
*takes wonderful care of her pregnant Mummy
*Very rarely complains about being dragged everywhere I go
*Loves her friends

I could go on forever - however I won't add anything about food because that side of things isn't so great at the moment

*has a brilliant, cheeky personality

I can add my Sam to this list but I could probably make a big list swinging the other way too!

*Eats lots of different foods and heaps of fruit
*Will pat my head and say 'It's alright mummy' if I am sick or sore somewhere
*Shares his toys nicely when others are around and never pushes or hits, he is very gentle
*Is very strange and kooky with his expressions and weird antics which makes me laugh ALL the time
*Is very friendly and confident and adaptable to situations
*Is happy to go off with his dad and family even though it really upsets me. If he was upset I would be worse.
*Mostly sleeps 12-13 hours a night and will go down at 7 and be asleep within 5 minutes.
*Can flirt the pants of ANY female who comes anywhere near him, he is a total ladies man and I feel proud when people tell me how lovely he is

I could go on. We had a terrible day yesterday because he will NOT apologise for the naughty things that he does and will battle with me AND win because he is so stubborn, but today is another day and he is being lovely again so yesterday is forgotten.

There ARE lots of lovely things about our toddlers - great idea Bombshell, it's nice to look at all these great qualities and after all that is what we are supposed to be doing, focusing on the positive and ignoring the negative.

Aww I just needed this...

Harry (18 months)
- loves giving other kids cuddles and kisses
- says 'please' and 'thankyou'
- has amazing rhythm and loves drumming
- has such a gorgeous smile and laugh
- is a great climber!
- can happily entertain himself
- is really good at tidying up
- loves helping me unload the dishwasher
- loves singing and doing actions to songs
- gets so excited when he sees people he loves
- has a great bond with his relatives and our close friends
- can communicate what he wants so clearly
- happily leaves his dummy and muzzie when it's not sleep time
- has a new word every day
- loves fruit and would eat it all day if I let him
- is really good at feeding himself
- has long 'conversations' with daddy/granny/grandma on the phone
- is really sensible and careful when he climbs, I'm never afraid that he'll fall cos he has sure footing
- is so sweet with his "bubba" doll, puts him to bed and feeds him and pushes him around in the pushchair
- lifts up my top to see the "baby" and gives my puku kisses
- knows his body parts in English and Maori

OK so I got a little (ha!) carried away but it's just what I needed to do today... sometimes it's hard to focus on what's not going right rather than all the wonderful things our toddlers DO do
Mama to DS1 (5 years), DS2 (3 years) and...

after posting this topic i had a nightmare toddler for many nights...my 12 hour sleeper stressed out mega about daddy being away for work for 6 days...and her sleep (and mine!!) sucked

Im pleased to say today (daddy is back!) she
-cuddled up on the boat with me
-was fun
-had fun and it showed
-ate most of her dinner nicely (she got full and that became too hard as she was over tired)
-gave me gentle kisses when she said goodnight...they are adorable
-said she loved me (this last week has been "I am not happy with you mummy")
-and is asleep solidy for the first time in a week nearly!

phew......my darling toddler is back (and daddy is not allowed to go away that long ever again!)

Jake (2):

* potty trained himself
* comes and strokes my head and kisses me if I throw up/pass out/have a seizure
* loves cleaning which involves grabbing the nearest cloth (usually off the dirty washing pile lol) and energetically wiping everything in reach or sweeping, again very energetically, whatever has spilt on the floor and often spreading it further round the living area which I think is delightful and no I'm not being sarcastic - his enthusiasm and his desire to help is wonderful!!
* Willingly works alongside everyone in the garden (he shocked and amazed my parents when he was there by grabbing all the weeds on the path where my mum was dropping them and with much grunting and heaving filled the wheelbarrow to the top with them)
* Is extremely polite and uses his pleases and thankyous
* Intelligent - scarily so coz he sees something once and can copy it (including finding the right car key, unlocking the front door, getting his boots on, going to the correct car, unlocking the door, getting in and starting the car!!!!) (that was Daddys contribution lol hes super proud that his little guy is so clever )
* Is learning his numbers (so far two is the favourite coz it means he gets one more choc piece coz mummy thinks its so clever lol!)
* he gets out the plates - 2 big ones for mum and dad and a Jake sized one when he knows dinner is ready (or lunch coz hes just gone to help daddy by getting the plates)
* he wants salt and pepper on everything same as daddy (actually anything daddy does Jake does!)
* he loves cuddles
* Hes so industrious - he makes up all these little jobs for himself and works away with the added noises - huffs, sighs, grunts, etc lol its just so adorable!!!
* hes very kind esp with other kids - no hitting, kicking, biting or snatching. I can trust him completely to play well.
* he expects everyone to love him (and they do of course )
* hes a great sleeper - 12 hours at night, 2-3 hour nap in the arvo
* he says 'heoooo' and 'baiiieeee' to everybody and blows them kisses
* he has the cutest laugh!!
* he leaves adorable messages on his grandparents phone with lots of 'uvv oooo's and jibberjabber about what hes doing (their saved messages are filling up fast coz they can't bear to delete any lol)
* hes very colour coordinated and actually chooses outfits, well generally, that go together so mummy can take him out without cringing!
* every black motorbike gets a 'daddeeeeee' at the top of his lungs
* he shares his chicken mcnuggets (another one from daddy lol)
* hes just the most delightful, loving, adorable, gorgeous, wonderful, hardworking child and I tear up at the thought of how lucky I am!!! (could be hormones too )

I'm so besotted with my son!

Blair (22 months) has had a mixed week, but I need to remember all the wonderful things that he does/can do.
*Generally tries to be gentle with his little brother
* Understands 'go sit in the corner' when he's naughty - and will go and sit there and wait till we tell him he can come out
*Whilst not having a big vocab, has learnt 3 new words in the last week including Daniel and kisses
*'asks' for his toothbrush whrn he is in the shower
*gets nappies for himself or Daniel when asked
*will pick up the rolled up dirty nappy and put it in the rubbish
*will try to settle Daniel when he cries
