We have had Leah waking screaming and being hysterical almost every night since December.......don't know why or what started it but she has to sleep clinging to me in our bed most nights. She was only just 2 when it started and she has never said anything about monsters but now also wants the night light on all night and her door open as well.
The last 2 nights she has woken but i've been able to calm her and shes gone back to sleep in her own bed and slept through till morning so we are hoping that maybe we are coming to the end of it now.
We let her come in with us as she is so upset to make her stay in her own bed by herslf seems mean and cruel, but I know others who have told me to make her stay in her own room and get over it....we just couldn't do that to her, and yes we have to deal with her wanting to sleep in our bed but its what works for us.
We had a phase of this where we couldn't even get her to go into her room and the only way she would go to sleep was either falling asleep while having her bedtime bottle or one of us sitting in her room with her till she fell aslepp, but that wasn't for very long and she is now happy to go to bed and fall sleep by herself again, it just the waking during the night we have to deal with.
Some nights its 8.30 and others its 3.30 or anytime in between, there doesn't seem to be a pattern to it. The only thing is that she dropped her day sleeps at the same time it started happening. Once she is in with us she generally goes to sleep and stays asleep as long as she is holding me, but occasionally she starts kicking out and crying in her sleep to get away.
