Topic: Thrush?? Posted: 20 August 2008 at 8:29pm |
Is there anything I can get for Ashlee over the counter for thrush? We've spent far too many hours in the waiting rooms of doctors lately and wanted to try and avoid it if I could. She's beginning to hate the doctor.
Kels, what was that cream that we used many months ago that you kindly got for us? I can't remember the name of it.
I'm pretty sure it's thrush and not just a rash. Mind you, daycare does NOT clean her properly and uses nasty wipes on her poor tush even when I provide sensitive ones for her!

Complain to the head teacher at daycare. That is disgusting they aren't cleaning her properly, and they should use what you provide.

I will be. She's been there for about 3 weeks, after the first week, she came home with a rash. I manage to get it clear from Thurs - Sun but then she's back at daycare Monday just to get a rash again. I seriously wonder just how long they let her run around in a dirty nappy.
Can antibiotics cause a rash/thrush?

Yep, augmentin is eveil for causing thrush. I always get it when I get given augmentin so I now ask for anything but augmentin,

Like Becks said unfortunately antibiotics can cause and / or aggravate thrush - you can get Micreme H over the counter at the chemist, as well as plain Micreme (without the H - hydrocortisone). I'd suggest using something like that, then putting a layer of barrier cream on top as well, like zinc & castor oil or even Sudocream.
How frustrating that her DC aren't using the right wipes !! And poor Ashlee - I'd definitely have a word with someone about it.

We are going down this track at the mo
Our Dr gave us Micreme H to treat Tyrell's bum....it has cleared up heaps within a couple of days.
Our DC use cheap wipes too, when he was younger I always supplied them as his skin was so tender....but used them over recent months, but this week I have deicded to go back to our wipes. They are just so much nicer, this is the first time we have had a rash in 2 years!.
I would talk to your DC!

I just found an old tube that was prescribed to us last year, so will take that with me when I go to the pharmacy.
It's annoying isn't it, Shorty. It's got so bad Ashlee hates nappy changing again and shouts 'no wipes! No cream!' every time. I feel so bad for her DC have already said 'we know when she does a poo because she starts crying'. No kidding!!! I think they just get lazy (and I tend to think they've got too many kids and not enough teachers... sigh.)

I went down to the pharmacy yesterday with the old tube and they sold me some Canisten which has the same ingredient as the one that was prescribed last year. Two nappy changes after I first used the cream, and the rash was just about gone! She's now so much happier to have her nappy changed. Yay for a happy child again!!!

Good, I am pleased it has improved for you!
Tyrell's is still there....only just. I hope it goes soon.
It is hard with DC, to know what is acceptable and not expecting too much. I had a good talk with our DC on Wed,Thur and Fri. On Wed we picked up T in shorts! NO singlet and NO socks.
On Thursday he woke with a bit of a runny nose, then they rang that afternoon as he had a temp! NO blardy wonder! So said GRRR a few times to get them sorted.
I hope your DC will start to use the wipes you want them to
