Topic: First AF after M/C Posted: 16 June 2008 at 9:24am |
How long did it take to return?? Also was it a normal AF or lighter?? I had a m/c on 21st May - fortunately it occurred naturally at 6wks and did not require medical intervention. I am still waiting for AF to arrive, I feel like I have had my normal AF symptoms and a miniscule amount of spotting here and there but no normal AF bleeding. Probably being a bit eager to get AF as want to TTC asap.

Hi catcase......well you probably know my story. MC at Easter and STILL waiting for AF . I was sure AF was coming for about 3 weeks before I thought I better test and what do you know..BFP......so I guess early pg symptoms are the same as PMT.
I know what you mean about wanting to TTC. I was like you, MCd early on so nice and easy. For me there wasnt an emotional component to deal with. I didnt feel we lost a baby...just a dud egg and sperm (nah, maybe dud sperm....my eggs would never be to blame ). I was starting to get depressed wating for AF which I thought would never come.
Chin up....it will happen...one way or another.

I was just wondering this myself. I started spotting 14 May, thought I'd MC on 17 May but then had to have a D & C on 22 May. So when is day one - I thought maybe from the D &C???? Very confusing. Just want it to hurry up so I can get back to TTC

My cycle returned to normal immediately which surprised me, my body acted as though the MC was AF.

Thanks NZPiper - I hope to have a fab result like you, but hey if not just means more trying , which my hubby will be most excited about!!
Linda it is so frustrating isn't it as you are just not sure when it should come!! and I must admit hubby adn I are not using contraception as it took us two yrs & fertility to get Alandra and so pg& m/c was a bit of surprise so I am just thinking my body will know what to do. But now I am stressing as AF hasn't arrived (even though it has only been 3 1/2 wks since m/c) what if pg again?? Oh well think I will pretend I am pg so don't do anything to hurt possible bubba and will wait for AF as I am sure it is on it's way.
Hope it all goes well for you adn that we are both pg again very soon

kebakat I hope this is the case as it means I might be pg again already maybe?? don't want to get hopes up, but you can't help yourself.
oh well only time will tell - fingers crossed I am pg in the very near future and it all goes ok this time
too scared to test too - will wait till end of the month if nothing has happened AF wise

The doc told me anything up to 6 weeks after the mc, I miscarried naturally at 6w2d. I got my period exactly 27 days later which is my normal cycle length so like kebakat my body treated the mc as though it was an af. (albeit a more painful one, physically and emotionally).
My first AF after the mc was actually quite bad, more painful and heavy than a normal period but i've been told that can be normal and can be the body clearing out anything that didn't come away with the mc.

I am really sorry to hear about your loss.
I am in the same process of waiting and wishing everyday my AF would arrive.
I gave birth on 7th May at 18 weeks and I am still waiting. I am told it can be up to 3 months. Everyday I get pains to indicate everything is working again but no nothing.
Good Luck I hope everything works out for you.

I forgot how many of us all mc within a few days of each other. All at about the same place wondering whats going to happen next.
Sooo want to start ttc again, impatiently waiting for AF to turn so can gp back to normal. I have been having dull aches in my lower abdomen the last few days so I am hoping I am about to ovulate.
Come on April bubbas!!!!!!!!!!

Ok so I have been waiting for AF to show when I thought hey I better check just on the off chance that maybe BFP, and what do you know a big fat BFP!!!!! Had bloods taken on monday and they were 465 and I am going to get them done again tomorrow or Friday and fingers crossed all going crazy with big numbers. Still not able to get to excited or optimistic - but fingers crossed this one is a sticky bubba.
Thankyou to everyone who has given me info and helped me through this time of uncertainty.
Catherine
