Hi Ladies,
I have recently given birth to a daughter (Anika) at 19 weeks gestation, Anika was my 3rd pregnancy, I have not been lucky enough to take a baby home yet, my question is when is a good time to start trying again?
There is no medical reason for any of my miscarriages. So I would like to try again as soon as possible, how do I know when the right time is?
Thanks

So sorry for your loss.

A friend said to me after my miscarriage that she knew she was ready to try again when she wasn't trying to replace the baby that she had lost. I think that was very good advice.

Good luck for the future

I'm sorry you miscarried not once but 3 times!

I think what the other girls have said is good advice. You will know when. If you are unsure then its probably best to wait a little longer.

I am so sorry for your loss!

I think what cuppatea said is spot on. There is no apparent set time frame. Some medical professionals will say you can start straight away, others say you should wait 3 months. At the end of the day, you have to do what feels right for you.

I wish you all the best for your next pregnancy.

*hugs* to you - what a sad thing to happen, not only once, but 3 times.

I am with the others, you will know when the time is right to start trying again. I am actually kind of glad it took me a while to conceive again after my m/c (at 12w) because I don't think emotionally I would've been able to cope if I had conceived straight away again.

once again *big hugs*, you've come to a really good place here - everyone is really supportive.

I'm so sorry for what you've been through, losing a baby is the hardest thing.
That's such a lovely name you've given your daughter, Anika - beautiful!

For me, the time was right when I found enough mental strength to begin doing "normal" things again - like starting working again. I lost my baby girl also (Sept last year) at 26 weeks with no reason, and then had an early mc at start of this year (5 weeks). I think I was hoping early on that if I got pregnant again everything would be ok, but in reality at the time I had only just begun the grieving. I'm just starting my 3rd pregnancy now and am completely anxious about everything of course! I think only you will know when it's right, but there's no harm in preparing your body in advance - make sure you're eating well etc. Healthy body, healthy mind and all that....

Wishing you a healthy, happy next pregnancy!

Hi there,
So sorry form your loss, how awful =, especially so far along during a pregnancy!
After I miscarried (at 7 wks) I was told to wait around 3 months, but you know what, I just couldn't. Everyone talked about giving time to grieve and stuff but it seemed like the only way I could fill the hole left in me was, well, to literally fill it, with another pregnancy. So we did. Lucky us, gwe were pregnant again the very next month!
Lots of people ahve sort of disapproved, and you know what I can't give a 'good enough' reason for getting pregnant again. Maybe I wasn't rready emotionally, infact I probably wasn't, but it ahsn't turned out bad at all. I think anyone who gets pregnant again after a miscarriage or stillbirth would worry so much no matter how much alter it was.
For the first 12 weeks I was pregnant, I just didn't get attached. After that first scana nd finding everything was ok I sort of felt like @yay, I really am pregnant!" but I've never thought about actually havinga baby til we reached 24 weeks (as thats when we were told that babies have chances of life outside the womb).

Even now (33 wks), I'm still reluctant to 'count my chickens before they hatch'', as my mum puts it. Shes ahd a miscarriage too, but after giving birth to two healthy babies. I think its different when your body's never produced a healthy baby before and just lost babies, it makes it harder to trust youself.

So I think the right time is whenever you feel it is. And maybe it doesn't even have to be the right time. You're still gonna worry like mad.
