Brenna is very sick with the flu and I can't get her to drink much water. I've taken her to the doc and she's on anti-biotics because her ear is inflammed but I'm worried about her not having enough fluids.
Any ideas of how I can get her to have more?

Will she have an iceblock to suck on?
Could you syringe some into her mouth?
Will she eat anything from a plate. Could you mash up fruit and put heaps of water into it?
What about if she is lying on the couch distracted with a dvd. Would she drink some without thinking?
Poor wee Brenna and poor you. I hope she feels better soon. Take care Anna.

Oh no! I was going to text you earlier to see how you were! Hope you are feeling better now that Brenna is sick
Does she find it a novelty to drink out of anything - ie. pump bottle, glass or even mummy's glass? Ashleigh normally has her drink bottle so I find giving her a grown ups cup will encourage her to drink... Or I know this is gross but my gp suggested it - giving her a facecloth to dip in water and suck on lol!
Aww hope you guys get better soon and let me know if I can do anything to help xx

Oh thats good she will drink from a glass. Yep their ears can get really sore when they swallow if they are infected. Try about 20 mins after youve given her pamol, they should be less sore then. Yay that a diff cup worked, especially i shes drinking from a straw cup or bottle the sucking motion can be painful.

Poor wee Brenna Glad you figured the fluids thing out.
KH25 - someone told me the facecloth trick when Maya had tonsilitis too, it worked well.

Aww Kahtrell had that awful flu aswell. Really high temp, he was even jerking in his sleep, took him to the docs and was given pamol, his ears were fine...Got lots of fluids into him by offerinng milo and watered down fruit juice from a glass and that afternoon he was back to normal, less than 24hrs later!!
Lots of people suggest the face cloth thing, even in place of brushing teeth lolz....well thats when they only have a couple.
