Topic: palmy daycares Posted: 13 January 2008 at 8:38pm |
so am organising for when i go into full-time work - NO i do not have a job yet, but havce sent away over 20 applications for relief work - which i can only do if the boys are in daycare in the afternoons. Now, thought I had daycare all sorted. jake attends a local place twice a week and loves it. Talked about putting Taine in and they said there was no space. Fine I said, can i go on the waiting list. They said when Taine turned two it wouldn't be an issue - he would be in the older section with jake as they transition the toddlerss at 2.5, so figured they would do one transition rather than two.
Filled in forms to have jake there during the week for next year as well. all go. UNTIL last week was asking about booking taine in, how it was going. they knew NOTHING about it. checked and could fit him in - into the toddler area, not with Jake. sweet as - no prob. BUT now they possibly can't have Jake during the extra time. So i'm poretty annoyed by it. bascially they have changed from being independant, to being part of a franchise. Before they had discretion to accomodate unusual request, but now, it has to be done strictly by the book. Frankly I am unimpressed so far. I realise it may all be teething problems, but am still not happy at being mucked around. I'm planning to ring tomorrow to see where we are at, but basically can't go fulltime, or accept ANY teaching work until it's all figured out.
Soooo, my question is - any nice daycares in Palmy you know about? with space?????

All are pretty much filled up.
My daycare is Puddleducks and they have a 4 month waiting list. I love it there apart from my nappy issue. They have been great with Andrew since having him there since he was 5 months old.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

I know First steps is apparently pretty good, they tend to have a few months waiting list and are really central (they're the ones with about 6 different houses down the 1 street) Our daycare is awesome - however last i heard there was an 18mth waiting list and they give preference to those studying since they're connected to ucol. I used to work at lots of hugs - they're pretty ok too.

The latest Guardian has some info on First Steps and they were advertising available places.

No need, they are both in. still not impressed with the lack of communication, but hopefully as I said, it is all teething problems
