hi all.
It is already time for me to start looking at enrolling my DD into kindy (AHHH! Where did that time go?)
Anyway, the 2 kindies close to home I didn't really like the teachers, there was nothing wrong with them really, just something didn't click.
So I was thinking, why don't I just leave Cailin in daycare. She goes to one just up the road one morning a week and just loves it.
Do daycares and kindies kind of do/teach/offer the same things or is kindy really a better preparation for school?

i dont think kindy would offer anything that daycare wouldnt and if you are happy with the daycare then why not leave her. and just becasue you enrol her now they (well in auckland anyway) dont take them until they are 3. so you could put her on the role and then reassess it when a place comes up for your daughter... I know there was one teacher at the kindy i enrolled gabriel at that i really didnt think much of, she seemed to spend her day ignoring the kids and sitting on her bum outside, but she left by the time he started and i am quite happy with the staff there now.

it does depend on the DC tho....several i looked at taught better for the 3-5 age groups than others....having said that Ella is doing so much in DC at 7 months already.

time is another factor - i will be working so wont have time to do kindy half days....so DC it will be!

I would be intrested in what Kindy's you looked at if that ok I am guessing I know one of them. We have moved out of the aera so my boy's no longer go to that daycare I personally think the daycare is better only reason why I am going kindy now for Alan is cause we live close to a really good one I say stick to what you have it is way cool I LOVE that daycare so much I misss them.

hey loadsofkids, I looked at Devon and Westown? (Clawton Street). Both kindies seemed just fine, good play areas etc, but at Devon I just felt the main lady was a bit out of touch and at Westown...Mmmm, don't know, just didn't really click.
I think I have pretty much decided that I will keep her at Wrinkles, she loves it and I really like all the teachers there, are just really nice ladies. Also as an added bonus, it is only about 50 meters from my front door so very very handy!
