Topic: Were unexplained no longer Posted: 21 May 2007 at 11:03am |
DH had to do another semen analysis the other day, and I just got the results back. They're not good. The morphology is abnormal, and the motility is abnormal. We're abnormal. Coupled with my endo, it changes things dramatically according to the specialist.
Bugger.
Still, I told the specialist that we want to go ahead with an IVF cycle later in the year, and there is no barrier to it now. We'll go on the public waiting list also, no questions asked.
Bugger, bugger, bugger.

well at least it takes all the pressure of you - poor hubby tho.
(could it be something that he can help with - ie looser underwear, less heat down there, no caffeine, that kind of thing? or do they think it is just the nature of his swimmers.?) sorry if too personal and can tell me to sod off..!!

There was a programme on TV1 a few weeks ago,The Truth about Food where the men had abnormal sperm, they added fresh fruit and vege smoothies to their diet, and it improved the quality of their sperm. One couple concieved. something to try i guess.

Would be nice if the public funding came through fast.. then you could happily go back to Moochi.

A answer is good, and we know what we're dealing with. Technology is such that we have IVF as an option ...30 years ago, it would have been a different story. Plus, our income is such that we can go private too.
We have a really good lifestyle and diet, and the specialist said that there's not much we can change in that regard - we're both active, don't smoke, barely drink, eat lots of fresh fruit and veges and fresh foods ...all the right things.
Anyway, it'll be ok. We just need a bit of help
Unless I can rearrange Al's shifts etc in the meantime, our next appointment with the specialist is on 15th June.

Really sorry to hear that Ginger. I guess though, at least you have a clearer idea of what you are dealing with now, and can put proper plans in place to get things moving. Big hugs to you

I know it's not great news GInger, but at least it's an answer of sorts so you don't have to wonder "why oh why isn't it working?"
Best of luck with the IVF, and fingers crossed you come up on the public list so you don't have to fork out.

hey Ginger - Thats not good news. Atleast you can get the ball rolling quicker and know what you are dealing with now.
I wish you all the very best
Do you mind me asking - was your husbands sperm tests normal before you had this one done at FA?

Big hugs Ginger... like everyone said, an answer is better than nothing, even if it wasn't what you wanted to hear. Best of luck for your next specialist appointment!

Hi Ginger, well I remember when I found out about our male infertility I was... relieved! A strange reaction maybe, but for me it was good to know what was wrong instead of wondering wondering wondering. It felt like some of the pressure was taken off us and while we waited to start IVF we could just enjoy each other without even thinking about getting pregnant. Sounds weird, but maybe you know what I mean...? You sound like the perfect candidates for IVF and I've got everything crossed for you that the time goes quickly and you have success first time!

I know what you mean, I really do Lu!
It's funny to know that our chances of falling pg naturally have gone down to virtually nothing just like that, but at least we do know. Plus, once we've actually managed kids Al won't have to worry about getting the chop! Silver lining in every cloud!
