Stupid Question

I think that you are going to be OK picking her up as this is a normal stretching/lifting movement for you. Usually its lifting movements that are not the norm for you are the most hazardous in the first trimester.

Don't worry, I was caring for my niece quite a bit when I was expecting Ella and she was about 15kg. I picked her up quite a lot.
Same when I was pregnant with Benjy, I still carried Ella around as per usual.

Hmm.....When I drop Zaara to Day care she refuses to walk to her class so I have o carry her. I told her that Mumma has ouchy...but she doesnt care!!!

I think I am ok, and I will talk to my Doc and see what he says.

i think of course if your doc says otherwise listen to him but i was a preschool teacher lifting toddlers and babies right up until 20 weeks..i avoided it where possible but it wasnt possible during nappy time or at various other times..as others said if you have always done it i wouldnt worry .. but just try to sit where possible.. i stopped lifting the kids later on though but thats obviously easier when they arent your kids:)!! ..

I still lift Morgan shes around 13kg and is really clingy at the moment to (i can't even go to the loo without her) and it dos'nt matter if I tell her mummy has a sore tummy she dos'nt care.

I still have to lift my almost 4 yr old 15kg girl sometimes.
Reason being she can be a rascal sometimes and runs away from me - if I have no pram with me I don't have a choice! (oh I'm 17 weeks preg but took my ticker away as it didn't fit )

I think you'll know when to stop - when you can't fit her on your hip anymore

My little one is pretty clingy too, she's adapting to not getting carried tho as I started to phase it in before I got pregnant. I still lift her at times, but if she wants a cuddle we sit down on the couch and have one rather than me lifting her up for one. The sooner you can start the transition I reckon the easier they will deal with it later on in the pregnancy when you really just can't do it anymore.
Really she is a very tall girl, weighs 20kgs now, looks like a 5 year old, not a 3 year old. Emotionally she still needs a lot of closeness though and I can't deprive her of that.

I've had to stop carrying both gremlins at once coz my back can't cope, but I still have to lug them around one at a time, put them in cots, on change table, in the car etc.

I didn't lift Maya at all when I was preg with the gremlins but she was 3 so old enough to understand. She was so excited after I had them when I was able to lift her again lol.

In the older child's eyes, you don't always have a choice! Remember to lift well (bend at knees, etc) and see if you can focus on her mostly walking for herself in the coming months.
