Firstly if your kid is already happy on the toilet, would you skip the potty?
I'm thinking if using the Gina Ford potty training in 7 days so interested in answers from those that have done this method.

Also we're due to go to Ireland the end of the month for 6 weeks. We'll be staying with family they're already comfortable with.

Would you still start TT if all the right signs were there?
Also I'm not completely insane as it's just one that is ready.

Yep, I'd skip the potty. Much easier for going out and about.

What's the Gina Ford method?

Dunno about starting given you're going away soon (though it s a month away) - although if you're happy to go with the flow and not stress if they regress a bit, then there's no harm done really.

We're doing the potty at the moment, cos Dan's really into it. We're also away at the end of the month but I'm thinking when we get back, we might have a go at the intensive method (bare bum, drink lots). We'll see.

Good luck!

The Gina Ford method is pretty much cold turkey.
Every 15 minutes stick them on the potty, record when they produce / have accidents. Every day you put longer between sitting on the potty. And by day 4 you should be ready to have a quick trip out.

I think I've already decided I'm going to start this week, just need to mentally prepare myself.

Eimear is a bit of a perfectionist so don't expect much regression. We're also doing a direct trip so I think she should be able to understand that 'on planes we wear nappies'.... I hope! lol!

Hi Tishy - go Eimear What a superstar . I would say for it. We kind of did Gina Ford with Sophie with the quiet days at home and then a trip to the park on day 3 and a trip in the car on day 4. It was fine.

You may find that by the time you head away that you don't need nappies for the whole plane trip. As long at you take her to the toilet just before take off and landing, the rest of the time should be ok.

We did use a potty as Sophie was so little and it was portable but it was just for the first 3 weeks. After that we put it away and progressed to a seat insert for a few weeks and now she is happy to balance and hold onto a full size seat (but I don't go to far away just incase )

Well we did a no nappy day on the Tuesday and Aoife wanted to join in. It started well but my sanity only goes so far
Aoife definitely doesn't have the bladder control for it yet so they're both in nappies for now. I will reevaluate in June once we're back from Ireland and I have stocked up on alcohol to calm my nerves
