We've just taken Jakes dummy off him in the last fortnight coz he started biting chunks out of them and luckily he's been perfectly fine with it, we just explained they were broken so he had to go to sleep without one now (it happened to be right before bedtime ) and he hasn't asked for it or cried for it since so d'u think he'll be fine if Tyler needs one? Its still a good 3 months away so I'm hoping he'll be cool if Tyler needs one but maybe we left it too late but its always been his one soother so I wasn't fussed on him keeping it til the biting.
Anyway opinions/experiences??

Maybe just make a big deal about babies having dummies when you see them between now and then. I mean if you are out a friends baby has one you could make a big deal about jake being so big he doesn't need one anymore. THat way when the baby comes you can say oh the baby needs one lucky jake is so big. If he does want a suck you could be like "Jake is pretending to be a baby come let mummy hold you like a baby" Bet he could only handle that for a short time.

Jack hasn't had one since 5 months, but know what they're for and thinks its hilarious to suck on them. I just made a big deal about everything to do with the baby 'only babies sleep in cots/have bottles/suck dummies/need rattles' and just got him really excited about being a big boy and not needing any of that baby stuff anymore. Now he thinks he's really cool when people call him a big boy.
