THe past three nights Jaxon has refused to go to bed and just screams and cries for hours.  we try ignoring it, until he gets totally upset where he hyperventilates then I just give in. He has not been going to sleep till about 11pm. As I am typing this I can hear him crying mummy. I feel so mean. I just dont know what to do.

We do the bath time, and teeth etc, read him stories. he is usually pretty good.Is this just a phase or the beginning of a nightmare.

What are some good tricks? if any?

Is he well? My boy did a similar thing and it turns out that he had an ear infection.

My suggestion would be to go in there and sit with him until he drops off to sleep. Then the next night sit on the floor and slowly but surely inch your way out of the room once he's asleep.

We did this with Nyah and I think it was 3 days and she was back to going to sleep on her own.

I agree with the posters before me - check all is ok nothing wrong with him.. then do what mel said as i had done this with DD when she was round that age.. just make sure your not cuddling him - more just being there. If your not keen on that - leave to cry for 5 minutes go in , put back into bed and settle, then walk out leave for 5 minutes and repeat this til he goes to sleep - just make sure your not cuddling as he will get use to that.
Good luck and hope it helps.
