well he wasn't for a long while and loved his bath - he would swim etc... and even when i took him to the pool once (after him clinging to me for ages) he loved it.

Well it started about 4 days ago - I am not too sure if it was our trip to the big swimming pool which he wasn't too keen on or the fact Dh was kidding (and I am sur ehe wasn't trying to frighten him) about falling down the plug hole..but hes got worse and worse and tonight he screamed in the bath and just didn't want to be in there - even when i hopped in myself ( well sat on the edge with legs etcc in)

Hes never liked the shower (I think its the pouring over his head as washing his hair can be a nightmare as well) so thats not an option...

But what can i do....also anyone else had this problem?

I am thinking of going back to aquatots to get him use to it and think this might be my only option to show him water is ok.

Sam did this for a week or so just recently. I still don't know why as she hasn't really had a bad experience in there!
We have just persevered and had lots of baths with her and she seems to have come right. She still doesn't want to dally about and play with her toys in there though anymore though!
Perhaps a simliar type of stage maybe? I have my fingers crossed that it is anyway.

Yeah but rhylz is 2.2 yrs old.

I forgot to say that he fell under the water at the pools (which last time didn't bother him) and it put him off the big pools - not sur eif this is the cause. He keeps saying fall down with could be the plug hole or fall over... you;d think I was murdering him the way he was screaming

I would say that is probably the cause. My son had a big fright in the water last year and it took him a few months to get used to the bath again. We just slowly encouraged him and let him know it was ok. A couple of times I had to hop in the bath with him. It could be the plug hole thing too though u might need to explain that he can't fit down the plug hole and only water goes down there.

You might need to put him in the bath at the opposite end to the plug - or do you still only have a shub?? - and make sure there are some really good water pouring toys in there.

How's this for a better idea - bath him in the warmth of the day in a paddling pool outside, with toys. You can even put some bubbles in. That way there is no plug and he'll probably enjoy cooling off.

teresa - shub bath here. Also his bath is part of his bedtime routine.

I tried to get something for the bath like a water pourer thing that stick to the wal of the bath and the warehouse had NOTHING! so I am going to go to Np and see if any more luck at toyworld - just means I have to wait till day off.

The more I think about it it is probably the Pool fright so will try and focus (or not) on that so I can reassure him its ok. Also will get onto Aquatots as I feel he really needs it - hes never been a big fan of the bath or pools but he was been really great for the past 6 months.
