Hi there Oh baby community
I'm pregnant for the 2nd time, lost the first one Jan 2012 at 10 weeks. Finding is sooo hard not to be nervous this time around. Am 36 this year so time isn't on my side!
Had a very faint positive on a urine test 15dpo, blood HCG the next day was only 35. Has increased today (2 days later) to 96 so looking good, still very low levels but they doubled in only 30hrs which is great! And progesterone went from 61.3 to 77.7 in 1 day!
Still a long way to go though isn't it? Going to get an early scan as I can't possibly wait until 12 weeks to make sure there's something there!
Anyone else feeling the same? Hard not to be able to talk to family/friends yet either!!

I'm 7 weeks and going through the same feelings. This is my first pregnancy but I came into it with the knowledge that my mum had four miscarriages 2 before my eldest sister and 2 after me before my youngest.
My husband doesn't want us to tell anyone so only immediate family know, but I really find that so difficult because the first 12 weeks is so unknown, and worrying. I always want to be able to ask people about what they went through.. And can't. Even finding a midwife is a struggle when you can't let people around you know your pregnant!
For me also my LMP would make me 11 weeks, but I didn't have a positive till after my second missed period, and the blood test HCG levels for on the spectrum for (at the time) 5-6 weeks. I'm now at 7 and worry about everything, but am trying not to. I have to remind myself that if this pregnancy is supposed to be it will (if my mum didnt miscarry I wouldn't be here), and that as long as I know I am doing my best that's all I can do. Wish time would hurry up and it be 12 weeks though for sure!
It's such a funny thing, and to have to go through all this stuff without others knowing.
Most important thing we can do for our babies is relax and enjoy it.
Hope your pregnancy continues well and all the best :-)

Hi Blueberrybaby.
It's Cherie here - I had to change my login details as I couldn't login with Cherie104834 anymore!
Anyway, congratulations!!!!!! So happy for your BFP!
It never seems to be straightforward does it?! My urine HCG tests started out so faint, and I've had a bit of spotting ever since my period was due. Plus, I'm getting lower abdo cramps. So many reasons to worry, yet at the same time, all those symptoms can be completely normal!
It is hard not telling everyone, is such a personal decision. My partner and I decided not to tell anyone other than family the first time around - then I was disappointed my friends didn't know when i miscarried - so I told them i'd miscarried and then wished I'd had a chance to tell them the good news! This time I think we'll tell the people we'd want to know if something went wrong.
I have found these forums very helpful though, didn't use them last time and find it really helps to have other people feeling the same way/going through the same things to talk to.
I'm trying to enjoy the first 12wks as much as poss - in some ways its quite special that no-one else knows; a precious secret between you and your blueberry!
There's a facebook group via the Huggies website for October due dates which is a great group of woman feeling exactly the same!
http://www.huggies.co.nz/forum/4-pregnancy-birth/101-what-month-is-your-baby-due/2713114-due-october-2013
Good luck blueberrybaby; fingers crossed we both have successful pregnancies!
xx

Hi Cherie and Blueberry! I am currently in my second pregnancy after a miscarriage in September 2012. I knew that MC's were possible but thought it wouldn't happen to me. I am no longer so naive and innocent to it all.

This time around I am finding myself getting stressed about anything and everything. Even stressing about stressing, lol. Every time I feel (TMI) moisture in my underwear I rush off to check if it's blood but so far it has only been cervical mucus. Wish I could relax more.

Hopefully it gets easier after 12 weeks. It's easy to think that it will all go wrong again but I am trying to remain positive. I talked to my doctor about wanting to monitor my HCG and hormone levels but he wasn't overly supportive. Just wanted me to go for HIV and prenatal blood tests. I insisted on testing progesterone, which he agreed to, but said he wouldn't know how to interpret the results anyway. So I kind of feel alone and at the mercy of time really. Just wait and see.

I'm tempted to front up the case and consult with a specialist actually but wonder if I am being a tad paranoid and precious.

I do that. Always checking for blood. If I don't have MS or my boobs don't hurt as much.. I don't feel pregnant. Then I worry that things aren't going as they should.
I am a bit crazy.. And I am first time pregnant! Reduclous.
My biggest thing is I don't want to be too upset or shocked if I misscarry so I think that means I'm keeping it open as something to expect... Yet doing my best an hoping for a healthy baby in 7+months

I can agree with all of you, such an anxious time! I get worried when my boobs don't feel as sore and I have no MS either!

Rachie I'm really sorry you doctor isnt supportive, it really would help your peace of mind being able to have weekly hcg tests. Have you got a midwife yet who could give u thr forms for them?

newbaby fingers crossed your spotting is nothing to worry about, a lot of books say it is normal so lets hope it is for you

Unfortunately my midwife says she doesn't need to see me until 19 March... at 11 weeks. Do you think I should persist and ask to see the dr for monitoring blood tests. I had my bloods taken on Friday and will phone them for the results tomorrow.

Considering I get free maternity appointments, I might as well take advantage of it and become annoying with testing :P Is it normal to test weekly or will it just be stressful?

I think it will just be stressful. Your best to try and relax and go with it... Hard I know. Time does move extremely slow at times like these.. But a weekly blood test can only show you two things, your HCG going up as it should or not... But what does that really mean!? My college had negative urine tests for the first three months of pregnancy because of low levels of HCG... Her son is 5 now. Send positive vibes to bub and try relax for both you and baby.
That's all I can do here too.

It depends how anxious you are about it. I just wanted weekly bloods until I go for a scan just for peace of mind. Without them I'd still be wondering if everything was going ok. At least know I know it is. There is still every possibility it may not but I'm not stressing about it

How are you getting on anyway Kalika? You getting any morning sickness? I keep hoping for sickness, lol, silly but it makes me feel like things are on track. I almost had no symptoms with the last pregnancy that ended in a miscarriage so I take symptoms to be a gift... as unpleasant as they may feel :P

Are you getting an early 6 week scan? I have a slip so that I can book in but think I will do it at 7.5-8 weeks to be safe.

Hi ladies,
I am new to this as I have just found out (a couple of hours ago!). I am completely in shock at the moment as we were not even trying, I have endo so thought it would take time, and we only had one 'not safe' time! So, I think I am about 5 weeks and am at a complete loss as to what to do now.....

As an aside, how do you change your username? Can you? I put in a nickname thinking it would use that but it has just assigned something totally different???? Thanks

Hi Kate, changing your nickname can be a real pain, you have to fiddle around with the profile settings under the member control panel. First things first - go to your gp, they will confirm with a urine test and then hopefully a blood test. Then you'll want to think about finding a midwife

Rachie, I've still got no morning sickness, just sore boobs, more thirsty than normal and tired, but I seem to be less tired and less hungry than last week.

I've got a form for a scan, planning to go at 8 weeks, on Jan 15th

Oh my god yes, soooo thirsty. Cannot drink enough and then I end up going to the toilet every hour or more. LOL

Exciting, 8 weeks is not so far away now! :) (15 Feb right?)

I know what you mean. I have lost my symptoms today am worrying about it. But I've read that they come and go. Some people don't even get symptoms until later if at all.

Such an uncertain time. I am changing doctors because I was irritated by the way my doctor has been with my fears. I demanded a hormone test when I first found out but he couldn't understand why and admitted he wouldn't even know how to read the results anyway. I got my results yesterday and he said they were in middle of the range and even admitted to finding that out with an internet search... whaaaaaat!?

Update - I have booked in to meet with a new doctor tomorrow. A female gynae obs specialist with paediatrics too. I am told she is awesome and extremely caring and sympathetic to woman's heath issues. Yay... can't wait.

No symptoms today, bummer... really hoping for a little bit of puking. I've heard 6 weeks is a usual time for that... FX. LOL

Hi everyone. Sounds like we're all in the same boat!
Rachie - so good to hear you've changed dr; he sounds like a dick! That's the last thing you need when you have concerns. I'm totally a bloods/check up person. Some people might find it makes them worse but for me, having little milestones to look forward to (blood tests, early scans), it makes it easier to deal with, rather than waiting the full 12weeks to make sure everything is ok.
I had 3 blood tests in the 3 days after I found out! Now just having them twice a week - love to see the HCG doubling quickly. With HCG, it's more important how quickly it doubles (aim is 48-72hrs), rather than the actual figure as it varies hugely from pregnancy to pregnancy. Progesterone isn't as good of an indicator of healthy pregnancy as these values can vary depending on the time of day you did the test/when you last ate, etc. Is still good to know it's above 64 though.
Got 2 early scans booked too! First one next Friday (6wks 4days) to make sure there isnt just an empty sac! and hopefully to see the heartbeat. 2nd scan will be around 9wks to check growth.
So yes, it's a personal thing how often you want to get checked; if you're able to just sit back and go with it without stressing, then I admire you; for me - the more little bits of encouragement I can get, the better!
Symptoms are also very misleading - they can come and go during each day and every pregnancy is different; I know what you mean though - I am so pleased when i feel different than what I did last time!
My spotting has stopped now which is great - GP said it would have been implantation bleeding and is very normal to get spotting around the time your period is due.
So now that i've had a few HCGs and they're all looking good; i'm able to relax a little more and enjoy being pregnant, is such a special time to think of the little thing growing inside us.
So i'm just trying to focus on being healthy and doing everything i can to be a good host to the wee thing!
Good luck with your appt tmw Rachie - i'm sure she'll be great!
