My DD is driving me insane. My dad is over visiting from the UK (goes back sunday been her 3 weeks) and he talks louder than we do and with a kinda angry tone, so poor DD never really knows if he's playing or being cross etc. He argues back with her which drives me crazy as everyone knows never to agrue with a 3 year old as they just don't understand. DD is shouting lots at Popa and us but we never talk to her like that oh and waving her finger at us which she's picked up of him too. Her toileting has also gone crazy she is peeing and pooing everywhere and we were almost fully toilet trained.

Any suggestions as to whats going on please before I go nuts?! Do you think it's just that my dad's here and she's been getting mixed messages and attention for behaviours she never gets from us, or do you think it could be something else.
With this heat and being heavily pregnant i'm ready to give her away, lol!

I totally understand where you're coming from.  I spent the weekend from hell down in Chch in January last year with DHs family, I was so emotionally high strung by Sunday I cried at the airport when we were heading home.

Michaela's uncles sound similar to your dad.  They speak aggressively to each other, they're just playing about but Michaela didn't understand that and within a day of being around them all it took was for one of them to look at her and she burst out crying and clung to me.  That coupled wih being in a new environment and Michaela became such hard work.  Having someone who she's not used to and is dissimilar to the type of people she is used to invade her environment (i.e. family staying) is probably having the same affect on your DD.

Once we were home Michaela settled back into her routine and became her lovely cheerful self again.  I hope the same happens for you after Sunday and good luck until then.

We just experienced a similar thing whilst having ALL the family stay for XMas.  Everyone would be repeating the same message to Tom so he would get told "No" but about 4 people all at once.  He was getting confused and wanting his mummy a lot but my MIL was trying to keep him from me to give him a rest.   He coped well but as soon as they left he started throwing tanties about EVERYTHING!

A week on and we have our happy little boy back.  But I expect the wheels to fall off when bubs arrives.   You might find that toileting goes backwards when your bub arrives too....but I am sure things will come right.  Poor wee mite.

thanks, good to see it's not just my wee one thats having the same issues. We're not going crazy after all which is a relief to know. I had to tell my dad off the other week for telling DD that I would smack her if she didnt do as she was told Arrrgghhh!

I'm totoally prepared for it all to fall apart when bubs arrives, it doesn't help either that my mum arrives in Feb until May, but she wont be staying with us the whole time.

My father in law is a tad deaf and so when he speaks he comes across as being loud and abrupt. I've found the best way for him to talk around cath is to remind him to use his 'inside voice' and 'whisper' alot lol. This meant that he didn't startle her so much and she thought it was funny and as a consequence she started giggling and they were both happier.
