Topic: Height Posted: 12 March 2008 at 4:17pm |
I remember being told if you measure your child at a certain age and multiply it you can work out their height as an adult.
Can anyone fill in my blank please?
From memory it was 18 months so we may have missed it anyway.
TIA

Yep at 2 multiply it and that should be their adult height.
Andrew at 2 was 93cms tall so his adult height should be 186cm will be interesting to see if he is that.

I think it is different for girls and boys. My DH's is totally wrong. He was 85cm at 2cm and is now 196cm as an adult.

OK just found a couple of websites that said that height measurements under the age of 2 do not correlate with their adult height. It says that once they reach 2 years they have grown to about 50% of their height, so you can multiply it by 2.
So x2 at 2 years old.
But I also found this which is cool. It's a formula to predict the height of baby using the heights of the parents.

My doc said that with females it can depend on when you get your first period... I am no way near as tall as what was predicted at 2. Hannah was 92cm at her 2 year check, but if she does end up that tall I have no idea where it has come from - we're all shorties on both sides of our family!

Goodness, Charlotte is about 90cm already - if that is right, she is going to be a monster!

Seb is only maybe 82cm... I am 175cm, and Mike is taller! poor kid would have to grow 5cm in the next 5 1/2 months to make that

LOL. Michaela is already well over half my height at nearly 2, it looks like I'm going to get a sore neck when she reaches her full height

eek ella on the site is therefore going to be either 1/2 cm taller than me, or six foot exactly!! depending on whether my height is right...no real suprise there tho!
i thought it was 2.5 times at a certain age around two or is it at 2.5 years times two? am sure there was a .5 in there somewhere....

Mum did that with us when we were kids, she thought it was ridiculous when she worked out that my brother was going to be 6'5" seeing as her and dad aren't that tall. He's now just a fraction under 6'5"
Maya will be about 184cm.

Okay thats a bit scary reading to be honest..I knew my kids were going to be tall as I am 179cm and my Dad and Mum were very tall as were their parents etc....
But Going on Blakes current measurement which is now 93cm at 19months and he is taller now than Paige was at this age and she is the tallest in her year at school (nearly up to my shoulder and nearly out of URBAN ANGEL clothes (my little 8 year old :o( boo hoo)
...Blake will be HUGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well whats 186cm anyway in feet????
