My DD often walks on her tip toes (mostly in barefeet but also when wearing shoes).

We think it's kind of cute (esp when she's wearing her tutu) but I was reading another post and now wonder if it's actually a problem.

Should we go and see our MD or mention it at our plunket appt in a couple of weeks?

edit: whoops, my grammar is shocking

I'd say see the Doc about it if she always walks on tip-toes, but if she can also walk with her feet flat then maybe it's not a problem?

I have noticed DD doing this as well although I know she can stand/walk flatfooted as well. I was wondering the same thing - whether it is a bad thing or not.

Maybe our girls are just going to grow up to be ballerinas

LOL have seriously been thinking of enrolling her in dance classes, the ones near us start at 2 years old.

She definitely can walk and run with her feet flat and does this most of the time but occasionally prances on tippy toes (a couple of times a day).

i wouldnt worry unless its all the time..if it was all the time it can indicate a few problems..but as she mostly walks on her feet it sounds fine..but maybe check just in case:)

Well since she usually walks and runs 'normally' then, I'd just say that she's very clever, tip-toeing around.  How cute!

Ashleigh is exactly the same. She walks flat footed nearly all the time but every now and then prances around on her tippytoes. I think she does it "cos she can" lol!! I'm pretty sure it is only a concern if it is all the time

My 2yr old Jack likes to tippy-toe around the place too - but walks flat footed most of the time. He seems to tippy-toe when he is feeling light and happy, and waiting expectantly for something (like food!)

I'd say unless its her usual mode of transport, tippy-toes are just for fun. :) And nothing to worry about.

My 7 1/2 year old step daughter still does it all the time. She can walk flat foot but says its more comfortable on tip toes. I do wonder if its good for her development at times. She always has bad cracks under her toes from it as well. If you do mention it to someone please let us know what they say. I'm for one are curious!
