does your toddler drink.

Now Rhiannon doesnt drink milk, or fruit juice, but drinks so much water that at the moment i am having to change her mcns every 2-2.5 hours as she is soaking through, and is completely soaked through a sposie at night.

should i be worried at the amount of water she is drinking or just put it down to the fact that its been hot, and she is just staying hydrated.

On the upside she has geogeous skin and any scraps and bumps heal really quickly.

I wouldn't be too worried, Lucy drinks alot of water aswell. I would rather Lucy drink water then loads of fizzy or fruit juice.

My BIL is a dentist and see's alot of young kids come in and need fullings as their parents think they are doing the right thing by giving them alot of fruit juice but they don't relise that fruit juice contains huge amounts of natural sugar.

Ashlyn has always been a huge drinker of water, & even with Anastasia I often give her 1/2 water & 1/2 milk during the hot times and yes we also have the same problem with the night time nappy but would much rather that than tired lathergic wee girls. So long as Rhiannon is still eating and not filling up on water then I don't see a problem

Yep, Char drinks so much at the moment of anything we give her (water, juice, milk) and has quite wet nappies. We have also found she is a sweaty little monster, especially in the first part of the night (before midnight) and will have really wet hair! I know its not because of too much bedding because she is in the habit of sleeping on top of the covers. I think its just their little bodies taking in and letting out what they need more than anything.

She is also eating heaps at the moment too. Like HEAPS! Its awesome - she has been a crappy eater over the past few months.

Not to make you panic or anything horrible like that but do watch her water intake, 1L per day is really good but getting up to 2-3L per day could be a sign of diabetes. A girl from another board that I am on noticed that her little boy was chugging water back and it was because he was heavily dehydrated from T1 diabetes.
Olivia drinks around 600mls of water and milk per day as her bare minimum and can have another 2-300ml over that.

Yeah, Peace, I did think that too. Along with the drinking thing, with diabetes, there are other symptoms. DH has type 1 and has since he was 4 years old. From what his mother told me, he lost weight, wouldn't eat much, drank and peed heaps, got up several times a night to have a drink and in the end was really really sick. But it happened quite suddenly so if it is something like that, you will notice very quickly.

i had thought of diabetes as it funs in my family, but water is the only liquid rhiannon gets, she wont drink milk, and i dont give her juice....and shes not drinking more than a ltr a day i dont think...she is eating well...infact her food intake has increased.

When i next go to the doctors i will get him to check it out

I reckon she is a-ok - just a thirsty girl! And good thing is that water is GREAT for her. I wish I could drink that much each day!

i have made an appointment with the dctr for monday, just to be on the safe side, she has drunk so much water today that ive gone through almost 9mcns instead of my usual 3-4, i only have 14...lol

better to be safe than sorry, and for piece of mind, and after speaking to hubby and having him say he is worried about how much she drinks i reckon its just easier to go to the doctors and be done with it

Gabrielle barely drinks anything. She must feel so dehydrated at times but she is worlds pickiest eater / drinker. On a good day she'd drink 150mLs of water and maybe 50mLs milk but often less. Probably best to go to the doc for peace of mind. Wow! 9 MCNs!!! Busy washing machine in your house then!

we have just started buing small pump bottles for Gabriella when we are out....she loves to drink out of the bottle and would much rather she drink that than real juice or fizzy when we are out...

if home she has a sippy cup with watered down only organics juice in it with her meal...

seems the hotter weather has dictated she wants (needs) more fluids....she now has 4-5 bottles of formula and about 100 mls or so of water a day. They do the same for her at daycare too.
