Can you ladies tell me anything about endo? My laporoscopy last week confirmed that I have it, thankfully not in my bowel/rectum as yet, but he couldn't tell me much about it, except to say it's better to have kids sooner rather than later (in fact he said he hoped the next time he saw me was to confirm a pregnancy) and the only way to stop it getting worse is going on Depo/pill or being pg. I have a fair bit of scarring on my fallopian tubes and 3 "pockets" of it throughout my uterus and another place with a long technical name that I can't for the life of me remember. I had a look on a few sites, and it actually fits with a lot of my symptoms, the only one I don't really have is really bad period pain - well, to me it's not so bad anyway, I figured it's just normal. Any info would be hugely appreciated.
ETA - I hope this is the right place to post, I hummed and hah'ed over it for a while about where to go...

Probably the cul de sac minik8e  I can't remember the proper name either 
There is a really good book at OB sells in their store - if you don't know much about endo, it woul be worth a look. I did a review on it, so if there's anything you want to know, just flick me a PM ... or ask here of course
You are better off to TTC sooner rather than later - it can take a few months post-op for your body to settle down, but you have scarring to contend with, and also endo can come back. I don't think going on the pill or the depo injection is the answer - all that does is control the symptoms, not deal with the cause.
It's a really unpleasant thing and I'm really sorry that you have to contend with it 
Did they grade your endo by the way? eg. Grade 1 is minor, grade 4 is eek!

I'm really interested to know how you go as I am having surgery to confirm on the 15th of next month.
Ginger, can you tell me a bit more about the stages/grades?
I have an appointment with Deborah Bush from the Endo foundation tomorrow (my surgeon made the appointment) so I guess I'll be able to ask all my questions but it's nice to be able to let eveything loose on here 
How was your surgery? I'm a little nervous bout mine

No, I didn't get a grade, as far as I'm aware. Can't say I've actually heard from the specialist since my laporoscopy anyway. As far as I know, they never removed it either. I did get my op report yesterday with all the technical names, which of course I left at home. Some of the names though - "clubbed fallopian tubes" - makes me feel like a friggin caveman!!! And yes I agree re. the pill and Depo - then also if we decide to TTC later on, you have to go off them for a while to let things get back to normal before TTC is even an option, during which time the endo can worsen. It's just kind of bad timing...we're getting married in just under 6 months!!
Booweeza - the laporoscopy was fine. Don't plan to be able to bend over for at least a week afterwards, and you can't move so well (I was hunched over like an old woman and held my belly when I walked because the bouncing of my love muffins was painful, and an unusual feeling). I was unlucky in that I got a post-op bladder infection, but apparently that's quite rare. My stitches are keeping things together, I had some fantastic rainbow bruising for a few days (came up around 3 days afterwards) but that's almost gone now, I just look kind of jaundiced round my belly button. Make sure you wear underwear that sits between the two "ports" (one just under your pubic hair line and one just under your belly button - or that's where they are in my case) is one thing I definitely recommend!! And loose clothing.

I was going to PM you with the stuff I went through, but I can put it here. First surgery I had was in March 2004 - public hospital. I was told that it would be minor and only under for about 30 minutes. An hour and a half later and I was out of surgery. I had servere endo and they had zapped most of it and left a lot of scar tissue. I got pregnant soon after (BFP in July 2004). Once Andrew was here and AF came back I started having the endo pains again and in Feb 2005 I had the surgery again - private. This time I was told an hour op and it was just over an hour. The time major. and more scar tissue. My mum has it and even thou she has had everything in there taken out she still gets endo pains from the scar tissue, so i'm guessing that I will have it forever as well.
So I think my grades were first time 2004 Grade 4 as it was severe and 2005 grade 2 or 3.
After I had it taken out in 2005 my gyne told me to get pregnant fast as he didn't know how much time I would have left but I mananged fine a year later.

minik8e - if they didn't remove it, that unfortunately usually means that specialist surgeons need to be on call/involved for the op eg. a bowel specialist, a urologist or whatever they're called etc Push HARD for information. You need to have it. It's not good enough that they've opened you up, and kicked you out the door! I have no idea what clubbed fallopian tubes are, but it doesn't sound flash
The other thing I found with my op is that I bled for several days, and that first period post-op wasn't nice. I bled really heavily, and it gave me a scare, but it's perfectly normal - just make sure you have a bag full of supplies!!

I'm just strange I think. I bled for over 3 weeks with my m/c but my hcg levels just floated down over 5 weeks. I've just had my first AF post-miscarriage and op, and it's lasted 6 days so far (usually around 4), not heavy, just middle of the road consistent, although the pain is something that took me by surprise - it's really sore, on both left and right sides!!
