Hi Ladies,
DH is off to have his swimmers tested on Wednesday with Fertility Associates here in Wellington. I was just wondering about what we'll do when we get the results.

If the results come back bad like last time (he had low count and low motility - can't remember about abnormalities) is there anything he/we can do to improve the quality and count going forward TTC?

DH doesn't smoke and we only have the odd drink, which we'll both be giving up to improve our chances. We eat healthily and are going to cut out coffee for a bit.

I see all sorts of "remedies" advertised but I am dubious about these. Does anyone know of anything tried and true that might help us?

I'm sure FA will help us answer the question, but at this stage I am just curious.

Thanks in advance!

a male multi vitamin can help/cant hurt, and it was proven a few months back (if i remember rightly) that caffeine does reduce sperm quality. Sorry i cant help much more than that.

good luck for the test on wednesday

There was a BBC programme on Food, and their was a group of men who were unable to conceive due to sperm quality. They were put on a diet of fruit and vege smoothies for 6 months (in addition to their normal diet) the quality of their sperm was greatly increased, with one couple conceiving. Maybe worth a try.

hi
You're on the right track; Here's some hints:
keep 'the boys' cool - no hot baths, tight undies etc
Vit C
Zinc
fish oil
co-enzyme Q10 (some brands are quite expensive, but there's one that seems to be of good quality and also contains some other nutrients. can't remember the brand but it's in a white plastic bottle)
there's a herbal suppplement, i think made by Nutra-Life called Tribulus complex - contains a combination of herbs, minerals and vitamins
Lots of veges
Limit coffee, alcohol, red meat and stress
good luck!
