Hi ladies, I am nearly 35 wks with #2, and measuring 3 weeks small at the moment. With DD I was measuring bang on, and had very easy 3rd tri & great birth.

I have a scan booked for next week, so I guess I will find out then, but curious to why I am carrying so differently this time - nearly everyone I tell how pregnant I am to says 'no way, but you are so small!' and I am starting to get a bit worried. Last time, I had so much pressure on my pevlic floor by now, but this time there is no pressure down low, its all left and right, and barely any near my ribs either.

Does anyone have any experience with a situation like this? I was wondering if it could be a positioning thing - baby was in LOA position until last week, but almost feels like its lying across me now (uh oh!). Or maybe a fluid thing? I'm not trying to second guess what the scan will tell me, but trying to get a bit of a heads up on what some of the likely outcomes might be - just being prepared.

Eeep, when did you get to be 8months?!

I've been different with each bub. With O I measured bang on each week, with L I was a couple of weeks behind (and she is my biggest to date), with C my mw stopped measuring because I was getting so big - and he turned out to be my smallest by over 1lb.

Lol, that probably didn't help at all! I think it can be so many reasons why bub could measure bigger or smaller. All the best for your scan and FX'd bub is around the right way!

Hi squoggs. I was measuring bigger till about 26wks then smaller from then on. And my baby was breach (which we didn't know till MW saw his bum coming out) so I guess position can have something to do with it! My boy wasn't tiny either at 7lb 11oz. Hope your bubs is head down though and everything goes well!

The question, is how does the baby palpate? I palpated normal but I was 3-4 weeks smaller than I should have been, I wasn't worried but the mw's worry did rub off on me in the end, I got a scan to check blood flow & fluid levels and baby was fine. I just carried way smaller with #2 than #1.

I am measuring small too but I just think this one is going to be the size I was. Rang mum and aparantly I was barely 7 pounds.
Keep in mind the scan thing is not always accurate and is only a guide. Everyone measures differently.

I was measuring small from about 28 weeks and ended up having a couple of scans where baby actually measured big. So, I think it definitely can be the way you carry. I also didn't get much pressure or kicks near my ribs and wondered what everyone complained about!!

My DS was 7 pound 6 when born at 37 weeks, so nothing small about him . He also presented perfectly for labour.

I measured way small with #2 - my midwife thought he'd be round 5" and def not over 7", plus he stayed up under my ribs and sideways til just days before he arrived. Turns out he was over 9" and engaged when required so yeah they don't always get it right

Thanks everyone, I'm terrified bubs will end up transverse, can imagine nothing worse than having to chase a very active toddler post having c-section, with DH away most of the time.

Just worried as this bump is so small that I can still hide the pregnancy if I want, and only 5 wks to go :-S And DD was nearly 9lb, and 56cm long, so not really expecting a small bubba, comes from a long line of tall family members!

C was transverse for a few weeks (then breech), but thankfully he turned right way up in time (umm around 35-36wks?). Hopefully this wee man (that's my guess!) is right way round

I was bang on measurementwise with my first, with my second two I measured small, I forget by how much now, and I expect that the same will happen this time round. My first was my biggest baby, which probably made a difference, but I'm sure the fact that I put on far less weight, due to chasing the older children round had something to do with it too. I'm also quite tall, which my midwife suggested could make the measurement wrong too.
I'm sure that it's nothing to worry about, but it's always worth having the scans and keeping an eye on things.
Mummy to 2 boys, 1 girl and now a very small bump!

Im on #3 baby and measuring much smaller this time, bump smaller, like you can hide it depending on what Im wearing. I have actually bean asked 3 times to my face in the last 3 weeks if I have had the baby.

At 35wks was measuring 31wk by tape measure and by scan a few days later 31w4. Im under shared care OB/MW so have seen the OB since 36wk every 5-8days (again on monday) and each scan with OB they have measured fluids and cord and growth and all been good.

Babys come in all shapes and sizes...so dont stress

And ive had a c/s and had a 20month very super active toddler, recoverd fine.and having a c./s this time too as have pelvic disproportion. cos of bub measuring smaller thou they are not doing it until I hit 39w5-40wk, so its a bit of wait and see. on thur he measured 6lb so they said they are now pleased at that. (mind you scans can be half pound out, DD measured 7lb and came out 4days later 6lb6)

2 others were 6lbers (55cm long) and feed well/gained well

Believe me you are not alone...saw a chick 5 days overdue the other day and bump looked like 4month bump, bet she was over all the comments.

Be good to get a scan next week thou and be reasured all is bound to be well.

My scan shows baby to be a week smaller than my dates so my due dat was put back a week. When I asked at the last scan the margin for error she had to admit it was 10 days either side. It shows the difference in size which are possible.
After a 5pond 9 and a 8 pound 3 I am thinking this one will be small like the first lol
